On the eve of Another Tomorrow

Intention and actuality are distant shores,
the water betwixt full of pale & bloated floaters,
those that tried and drown,
whose hollow eyes question,
                  without sound

why, why, why
does this always happen to me?

Unwilling to see that some where between
     the champagne flute, theirs lips
     and the first year's kiss

they ain't foolin' no one but themselves.

"I hear you are good at scoring deals,"
a statement and question, she spins
like cinnamon buns, the day after Christmas

But she is right, I always check the clearance
     aisle at Walmart, Kmart, Target
     the bookstore, where ever

And you would be surprised what i find
no one else wants or they over stocked,
opportunity i ferret away throughout the year
in the basement closet for holidays,
birthdays, preparing for always, rainy days,
those when snow cocoons us in the house,
or just because days to say

"i love you," or make you feel special

Cause a penny saved is still a penny,
     but added exponentially makes sense
which is not common and no one
asks the cost of a gift unless
that is where they find importance

So tonight, when you resolve to
lose weight, get out of debt, save money,
stay together for more than the children's sake,
curb your anger or whatever your heart
     desires, know this---

There is no shortcut on that which is price-less,
epics are carved out of ordinary moments
     and tomorrow---

Tomorrow is just another day
     to those that don't notice

Happy New Year everyone! As you read this I am on the road to or in Cleveland to spend New Years with my son at the last Pittsburgh Steelers game of the season. A Christmas gift to us from my parents. Be safe out there and embrace the turn of the page tonight.

Over at dVerse Poets Pub, we are having a little party to celebrate and you are invited. Doors open at 3 pm EST.

Happy New Year's love! You do have a way of finding those great deals -especially on Star Wars related toys. ;) Looking forward to a new year for making special memories with our family and us! Just think of me and Logan being toasty warm and having hot cocoa in the hotel while you and Cole enjoy the game! Know you'll have fun. :)

Couldn't agree more
Can resolve to do whatever at your shore
Thinking you're so clever
Then time comes and you ignore the endeavor
Just another day that should be taken all the same
Not some made up fake resolution game
Speaking of which enjoy the game too
And Happy New Year to you

Intention and actuality are distant shores. Preach it brother. I long for my resolutions to manifest. One year I did quit smoking cigarettes. I'm still proud of that one. But, I quit on Dec 27th and not the 1st. Oh well. This year... I haven't spoken them yet. Safe travels and happy 2012.

This is beautiful with a touch of melancholy, Brian.

I, too, like good deals and keep them for occasions that spring up on us and require a gift... or just for fun.

Enjoy the Stealer's game with your son... and Happy New Year to the Millers!

Brian, I love the thought you expressed about giving things for no special day, just to say I love you!

And so neat that you and son are enroute to a Steelers game. What a priceless Christmas gift.

Brian, I try not to let it be known, that yes, to me, tomorrow is just the day after today.

After words are all said, and deeds done, tomorrow, tomorrow, is tomorrow

Yet, there is that ambiance of a holiday, which cannot be denied. So, let dervishes whirl. Midnight has passed--I'm going to bed!

PEACE!

lot of content on those bargain (free) aisles of lines of yours ;-)

"a statement and question, she spins / like cinnamon buns" -

plus those near-rhythms are really nuance-y, sparking a nice bounce-response, yet with variation unexpected

and then there's:

"epics are carved out of ordinary / moments---Tomorrow is just another day / to those that don't notice...."

very satisfying work, thanks brian! best wishes to you & family ;-)
