and on Christmas eve we'd
gather in tight in the back
room at uncles house and talk
to Santa on the hamm radio
feed the dog brussel sprouts
to clean our plate
cause that might determine
naughty or nice
& for one night just be
and be family
together

Thanks for visiting and reading the sonnet. Hope your holiday was filled with giggles, wrapping paper and yummy food. I appreciate you coming by for a read. I think the poem ended up making things sound more dramatic than they are, but when you write from mostly emotion, those colors are going to dominate. Simply "selling" (as in for a wedding ring) was meant as giving someone else the right to tell you what you “ought” to do. Alright … no more whining today. Very Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Reminded me so much of my experience growing up Brian. Despite the growing hatred for Christmas, it will forever live in our hearts. Hopefully our children's too. Merry Christmas to you and family.

Brought back so many childhood memories--ribbon candy at my Aunt Mary's, the big ol' lights on the tree (including a "bubbler" which always fascinated me!) plus the music, always the music, Bing, Dean, Johnny Mathis--the classics, never gets old. Thanks Brian. Was a nice Christmas. The mini monster got what she wished for, a new zelda game for her Wii.. It's got all sorts of new type things she can do, including a motion sensor, so, you have to move your arm and body etc to make it do stuff but... it's a big secret, non-one (especially not her cool friends) is supposed to know she plays a Zelda GAME on the Wii... LOLOL Kids!! A young adult one minute and a child the next. So, don't tell anyone..ok? LOL
