This was so interesting, Brian. I felt like I was there with your perfect sound commentary.
Brian,
Words and poetry now escape me...so I enjoyed this tremendously.
(Busy writing folklore again...)
Ha! Bet that was fun to write, my love. Your sounds convey a huge message of the human touch and communication that is missing so much in this day and age. Are we afraid to talk to others - and what they might say or think of us or have we made ourselves so busy that there's no time to care for others? An easy habit to break if we're intentional about it...
no wonder we don't "get" what the other is saying...I always wondered why now I know :-)
zip zap zoop
Turned my brain to poop
zing zang zung
Made me pop a lung
But there was no zzzzzzzzzzzz
This one was fun to read but even funnier to see
Ring Rang Rung
My nonsense has been sung
.. glug, glug, splunk, splunk. Me drinking from a plastic bottle of pop!
I laughed. It's great to get a laugh from your (appropriate) response to such a sad photo.
gave me a chuckle too
thanks
sometimes, silence is the best response or feedback, better than gross or strong language.
Listening to something like this could be a great escape from name calling or intense communications.
A Empowering Magpie!
That's great Brian! It reminds me a bit of the Saturday Night Live skit, where the family sits around the table, and all we hear is silverware against plates. Cool concept.
What an original take on the Magpie. Well done!
=)
nice one
Brian,
Something's missing! Sure is fun. Everything's there but something's missing! Great!
Hank
Hi Brian,
That is how it sounds at our table every night because we are so hungry, ok just kidding a little. Great write to go with the pic.
I also want to ask you something, I was wondering if you could please check out the new pic that I put up for this weeks Theme Thursday and let me know if you see someone or something in the picture. I did not see it before I posted it. Really strange like a ghost or someone else.
Anyway please let me know what you see. Thanks bunches.
God bless.
And the dishes were even noisier.
First time I've seen a poem composed almost entirely of onomatopoeia, nicely done.
This reminds me of a movie we watched recently (I have no idea which one) where there was a long dinner scene & all I could hear was the clank of the forks against the plate. For some reason it made me a little crazy in the head - & hungry!
Fun to hear the sounds of eating!! Ha!!
Loved it
Hugs
SueAnn
skrik is very evocative, isn't it? I've been in this room.
Ha! I like it!
(I think you could end with the SIGH.) Though I didn't try reading aloud, and theoretically, I like continuation.
Very nice either way. K.
Reading this out loud or mentally focusing while imagining the sounds was priceless.
Very true- and well done!
You are too clever!
Love this one. Just love it.
Sweet to see you have fun with words or... should I say onomatopoeias?
I read this out loud and felt like I needed to say "Excuse me" repeatedly. ;-)
So very clever--that's exactly what it would sound like!
I'm rolling those sounds around in my mouth and thinking..... that I'm just concentrating on my stomach and hoping that as I only have 15 minutes for lunch I won't get indigestion so excuse me if I don't socialise...not meaning to be unfriendly!
It's funny, and kind of sad. Lost in our own motion.
I love this one. : )
How funny that a human sigh is an interruption amid the non human sounds.
Clever write, Brian. :)
Brian you are a pure delight ! Writing what you sense and hear. That's the way ! You caused the image to take on a life, to draw a deep breath and it came alive ! I could hear so clearly every single sound. Thanks so much for your kind visit and thoughts you've shared with me today also.
Oh yeah, sounds familiar.
Interesting interpretation, Brian.
Ah the noise of the diner..so clever...clink skirk mmph ssspssspp...ahhhhh :)
and the lunch goes on....like the sound this gave off, an off beat symphony of an everday activity. Is that beautiful boy in the picture (up in the tree) yours? How cute is he! Just dropping in and hoping everything is going well with you and yours! Blessings......
Human or not...I was trying to say the words...it's fun. I thought for a moment that I was in Pat's blog.
Happy day ~
Gulp....love this Brian!!!!
Okay. . . . .
Were you speaking Klingon? :)
That sounds about right! ;)
Oh how we could easily be like that. Excellent tale Brian.
Brian, I am going to take a short break from blogging. I am not saying that at a post because I want to be free to return at any time because I know I want to return as soon as I can, but I do need the break.
And thank you Brian.
Great usage of onomonopia, and fun to read out loud too!! Enjoyed this clever Magpie. Well done, Brian!
Awesome. So poignant right now as we truly need to connect with one another if we are going to help those struggling during this recession/depression.
thanks for the chuckle this evening!
Very cool.
But this immediately came to mind. Sorry.
Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipschitz!
Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipschitz!
Pop! Six! Squish! Uh uh, Cicero, Lipschitz!
In the "Madeline" movies, Miss Clavelle was fond of saying "Something is not right" as she jumped out of bed to investigate ... Nothing at all to do with your Magpie, just came to mind. (SIGH) 'Sorry' ;-)
Wonderfully done.
For this one,
I simply admire your patience in writing those words in term of your special or newly invented language.
Super impressive take.
The first one I read that I laughed out loud and my kids had to come and see what was so funny...and yet you may have the most accurate take on it:)) Thank-you.
Sounds wonderful!
Who knew a bunch of sound could be so interesting and tells a story at the same time. Great job Brian.
A refreshing magpie tale,
The benefits of this is that:
Nobody has to know what you are talking,
everyone has 100% freedom to interpret and understand what your words speak.
So this is a magical ONE for all.
From the image, each participant has an individual take,
you have transformed the bold image prompt to a word prompt, personalizing the challenge, allowing your readers to understand with layered hints.
Perfectly Beautiful Magpie Tale!
Brian, you have interpretted the picture beautifully. You have said it all.
haha...love it...think i should translate this one to german...smiles
for me this speaks of a an atmosphere where no words are needed..somehow has a comfortable feeling of being in the same boat and the murmur of the ocean background is enough to feel safe and warm..
It's official You're scaring me! :)
A cafeteria of the mind, in cafeteria speak.
Excellent!
that was fun to read, I could actually here the scene :)
Dear Brian: I can hear the cafeteria! And I can hear the only word in this poem "Check" as standing out, or outstanding, as in; "Check"! Fun!
Damn, this why I left without even speaking to one person. :) Very clever young man ... you caught it!
OMG..!!! What language was that :P
Funny, the "sorry" probably acknowledged with a nod, if not at all, everyone's more concerned with their meal. Food must be good. :)
Man! This was great! :)
You're good with the forms of writing! :)
Brian, you captured the essence of Glenn Gould's spoken word mixes that he played on Canadian radio! This is brilliant. Gibberish never "sounded" so good... and for once, I could not read the poem aloud, so I simply sat back and floated on the sea of murmurs. Amy

LOL..only you could think of this...superb!
Well you've just proven that there is no real silence to be had in a room full of people eating- I was imagining how cold and silent it would be- but you are right- the chewing, chomping and clanging would have been thunderous!
isnt' it the same though...you'd think someone would occasionally have a different thought, and those laptops...oh GOSH YOU ARE AMAZING, A GENIUS
Expressive sound of loneliness, very good.
What we have here is a failure to communicate..brilliant..been there, done that!!
What will you think of next, Brian, lol! Love it!
ckkkzzzz..yunfffgeee unnfgeee
Pirth
This is interesting. Beats arguing!
The best onomatopoeia poem I've ever seen.
Totally cool. A poem of sounds and a check thrown in for good measure.
make sure you don't stand out in the crowd!
Fun piece. At first I was thinking you were forming a new language, but then I saw the picture and it all painted clear. Nice job. Thanks
For some silly reason this made me think of the beginning of "Silly Love Songs".
that was a very noisy post I guess :P
And nary a slurp. This was fun.
I'm old enough to know exactly what you're getting at here, Brian. Can't separate an individual voice from the background hubbub. Excellent write.
I just keep thinking of all the crumbs that will need to be swept up off the floor and brushed off the pews... :) Fun (and crazy) piece.
brilliant and unique take on the prompt..love it, kerrching!!
awesome! I love this, would love to hear you read it :)
So very cool! This is one of my favorites ever.
This was absolutely a perfect narrative for the image, made me smile and made the image so much more alive.;))
xoxo
This is not far from the truth. Texting has replaced conversation. We no longer see each other, just words on a screen.
How creative! OMG, I understood the words... Well done, Brian.
Cleverrrrr!
Wow. This is precious. A clip from modern reality. So creative, the sounds of no interactions.
LOL
hahaha:)
