wow, that first line sure grabs ya...lol.
Yeah, Ive noticed the older I get the faster it all goes by...I find myself trying to check things off my bucket list...but the list keeps growing, and time keeps passing...
38? You're still a CHILD! ;)
Happy birthday.
What can you do otherwise anyway. Time wasted yes but time made full use of. Aren't everyone's happy!
You're still a puppy at 38, Brian. And a talented one at that. Happy almost birthday!
Replacing the roll is the least you can do ;)
Happy Birthday dear Brian.
Great idea - just flush all the emotional crap away!
How ever did you become such a stellar wordsmith at only 38?!
Happy Birthday Brian! Refreshing (pardon pun please) Sunday 160!
I can't help it, I am constantly amazed at how you can create poetry out of anything, even c..p.
I take my hat off to you.
Happy 38th too, when it comes. It isn't nearly as bad as
you think it is, you spring chicken you.
hey happy birthday..!!! :) :)
Wonderful prose. Who would think of using the toilet as a prompt for prose. Love your imagination.
You're a youngster, yet.
But make the most of every day because once you hit 40, the years fly by!
haha:) happy birthday.
just one book by the toilet??
Happy birthday in advance! Have a great one. You're still a baby in diapers at a mere 38!
I think this is a guy thing. I don't know. Yep time flies. Happy Birthday. I remember 38. It was a good year. I was young. :)
I hope you have a wonderful birthday with awesome key lime pie :)
Wait. You're only 38?
Kill time, wasted time... is any time actually wasted? Even in the toilet... ?
Happy birthday, Brian. I remember being 38...vaguely!
Pretty fair writing.....for a youngster. ;-) Thanks for playing along with the Sunday 160.
Wish you a very Happy B'day! Wish we could flush all of it in one go. Good one.
Jeez brian, you're only 38? You are wise beyond your years, man. But I begin to see why you still have energy. I remember energy. Sort of. Happy birthday, and celebrate that age--it's never coming back and someday it will seem incredibly young. (trust me.)
Oh, and definitely--replace that empty roll. For your wife's sake if nothing else.
Man, you don't even waste waste ;-) And at 38 (38?! you are YOUNG, my friend), you are just hitting your stride. Looking forward to many more non-waste d words from you.
Happy happy birthday!
um...if we're twins, I'm claiming your age. lol. I turn a big, big scary number next month. yikes.
Happy, happy birthday to you! xo
i usually scribble my poems on toilet paper...nah...just joking (but would be an idea..no...? only when the roll's not empty though...lol)
now you will turn 38...? didn't think you're already that old...smiles... honestly, when i look at your fresh approach on life, you seem to be 20 something and when i think about your wisdom and patience, i would think you're somewhere between 80 and 90...smiles. not going to place my happy birthday wishes now but at 6:01 am my time tomorrow morning before i leave for work..
First things first....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND!!!
And one final thought....
I seriously love anything with the word crap in it. Well done, cowboy!
Ha! Interesting approach to your birthday love! I look back and don't see much time wasted at all....I see lives you've touched and changed that you may not even realize; I see a variety of passions stirred in your heart at the appropriate times in your life...I see challenges and growing pains for sharpening and growing....and through all this I see it pour out in your writing....I see a man I love with all my heart and don't expect (lol!) that you'll waste any of your time in the future. And I do appreciate when you replace the toilet paper roll.;)
so cool to flush all crappy thoughts through the toilet...must try to do that myself!
happy birthday old man! (just kidding of course, I'm not that far behind you)
I understand exactly what you are saying. Sometimes, though, the days drag on, but the years fly past.
I didn't know that men could replace the empty roll . . .
Happy Birthday, Brian!
Happy Birthday Brian !! I must confess technology has got me and I keep a Kindle by the toilet...it really doesn't work as well. :P
Hope your Birthday rocks brother, enjoy it !!
Yes you should replace the empty roll. I hate that! 38? Spring chicken.
I like that you flush down all the negative feelings you have in the toilet. Great way to start the day and year ~
Happy birthday Brian.
Cheers ~
I should remember to flush. That was the first thought that came to my mind after I read this! Fear guilt worry are wastes indeed.
And I feel the same about time as I got to my third decade. It just flies. Have an awesome birthday, Brian.
Oh happy, happy birthday, dear friend!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH Shit Gen X is coming of age! Does this mean we Boomers can just slack off and give you all the shit to deal with?
I do hope your birthday though is merry and well apportioned as the first day of a years worth of wonder filled days Brian.
Oh and put the seat down.
Yes sure don't want to flush life away
Just flies by each and every day
Big Happy Birthday too!
Hope a great one is had by you.
Moan, moan, moan . . . you get no pity from this 68 year old.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU BRIAN! :) :)
yea, flush the worries & enjoy life!
Be glad you're only 38. When I first glanced at the title of the poem, before adjusting my glasses, I read "I crap in my bed." Now, that's old age.
May you have a fantastic birthday and fill each moment that's yet to come with joy, wisdom and of course, poetry.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - YAY 38! We're on the same page...but I am 4 months your senior! LOL - Enjoy the day! Hope the family treats you like a birthday king....XO
I like this 160!
Happy Birthday Brian. Just had mine on the 17th. We call it Happy Present Day and Happy Cake Day at our house. 38 is a good age. So is 57. Haven't found an age I didn't like :)
So that's how you get rid of that baggage? I need a bigger toilet. Have a good one!
And it seems like just yesterday I was wishing you a happy 37th. Wait, what's that? Do I hear violins?
Maybe we should flush now... ;-)
happy birthday Brian for Monday. your still just a youngin. It is surprising how times keeps passing.
Wishing you health, and happiness always.
Hi! Brian...
What a great use Of 55 words..."i keep a book by the toilet to fill waste-d time..."
"thoughts with something sweeter
than waste-d time..."
...and thoughts in your head as you
add another year to your life.
[The truth Of the matter is everyone whether living and even the dead birthday anniversary is counted...with that being said,[cliché alert!] age is really nothing, but a number...lol
Happy Birthday!
Brian,
I hope that you, and your family have a good one too!
Thanks, for sharing!
deedee ;-D
Oops! make that 160 characters and not 55 words...
Happy early birthday! 38? Nothin' but a thang, toots.
Waste-d time: the only non-recoverable sin (I think!).
Hey I like "fear, guilt, worry"
FLUSH
Replacing them with Faith, Peace, and Joy--a new roll.
This times rolls on as does the TP, forever disappearing into the great chasms below...
We are the same age, my friend. So if you're old, I am too! :-)
Hope you have a great birthday!
"Fear, guilt, worry.... flush!"
I love this. Wonderful Creative Visualization.
Happy Birthday to a young and talented man. Time will go by quickly... use every moment and keep writing.
Happy Birthday! You're so young. Keep enjoying your life and living it to the fullest.
Okay, so I'm not a fan of the visual, ew. But, the feeling of time slipping away, I get. I'm 36, and I've often thought I would be further along than I am at this point in my life. I think that's a universal feeling though. Anyway, Happy Birthday! I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow:)
Happy Birthday! Start tomorrow off with a great "flush" of yesterday's worries. Began the new year with a new 'roll of paper' to write the poetry you send out to us on ether waves from 'the bowl'.
Go ahead, we're waiting!
Happy Birthday!
Happy 38 and I probably should replace the Fantasy Football guide with a notebook to be more productive during my pre-flush time.
lolss!
Happy Birthday Brian- says another Leo!!
I loved the word- play for sure.. very whimsical.. :)
Many hugs n wishes
xoxox
Now that's a good idea!
Happy Birthday Brian. Can't believe it's only 38 years - you sure have packed a lot into that short time, my friend.
Happy birthday! Fun poem!
38 ... oh to be only 38 ... or only 48 ... or only .... Never Mind. :)
That was good...... it made me smile!

Nuts in May
That's the trouble with living in a different country ... I got to miss your birthday. Hope it was a good one, Brian. 38 eh? Soon be time to start living ... smiles.
Ooops... didn't read that last bit. Seems the birthday is today. It doesn't change a thing about my comment though. HB,B.
Happy Birthday dear Brian!;) You are very young still.;)) Enjoy your day.;))
And yes, if we could only flush anything down the toilet, right.;)
xoxo
well at least you know how...Happy Birthday my dear genius, know that as far a women are concerned men just continue getting handsomer with age and smarter, 38 and you are a looker at 50 you'll be divine
Happy b'day
and true time flies with super-speed.
all the human emotions in few words... Great read :)
Happy Birthday!
I take a book everywhere with me EXCEPT the toilet.
Men.
But Happy Birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN !!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Day ! enjoy- 'cause like you say it goes faster and faster!
Happy Birthday!!!!
TMI, hehe, happy birthday Brian.
THIS ONE? Simply made me smile.
Happy Birthday, B, you are such a special, special presence on the internet.
Incredible, but so true, the older we get, the more we hang on so tight to each day that still somehow slips through our hands.
Thanks for all you bring to my life. I could never tell you how happy you make me, and Baby E with your time.
How you manage to do it...well, baby e thinks you're a clone.
You should ALWAYS replace the empty roll otherwise you will drive me NUTS!!! :)
Happy Birthday - I'll be right there with you in a couple more months.
Happy Birthday. I feel like this all the time. One day ends another begins and you wonder what happened to the days between. Flush was a great touch here, fits right in line with the piece and topic
Happy Bday Brian! You have a lot of wisdom for someone so young! You think time goes fast now?!!
A very Happy Birthday to you, Brian! ...and many, many more...
I'm now 42 & I understand what you mean about the passing of time & how fast it seems to go the older we get. Somehow Brian, I don't believe you're the time wasting kinda a guy, I think quite the contrary. You are right though, time is precious & wasting it on fear, guilt & worry, just doesn't seem right....when it would be better spent on love, learning, helping & happiness.
Really loved your fodder for thought.. Happy Birthday Mr Brian! 38 is great!!!
{giggle} i'm not even going to try to comment on the poem {impossible to come up with a clean one} so will just say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN!!!
hoping this year and every one thereafter just keep getting better and better, my friend. you are an amazing, VERY special man and the world is a better place with you in it.
thank you for all of your kindnesses. have a wonderful day ~ and cake... lots of cake!
d ♥
Happy Birthday!
Keep feeling great!
Happy birthday! I can't read on the toilet. I don't spend enough time there to read, nor do I want to.
Happy belated birthday Brian. Missed this yesterday. There's no time.to waste in our years ahead. My husband and i keep.talking about how old we're getting. I'm glad to.still be alive. :-)
Wishing a belated Happy Birthday to you Brian. I hope 38 is a good year for you.
Great stuff. and Happy Birthday when it comes. I tried to leave a comment on today's post but Blogger didn't let me so I'll just say it was powerful.
Yeah, I know about that head crap you wanna flush...
Hope you had the best birthday ever, Brian!
I am no longer 38 but also don't want for the days to go by so quickly. Every one matters.
Happy belated birthday.
My 45th birthday was by far my worst birthday yet. I guess if you have enough, some are going to be crappy?
Happy 38th. Enjoy every minute of every day!!
Smiles!!
