the moon was big & full
but i will never tell
we sat in the bushes
by the road, silence
a crickets serenade,
passing cars occasion-
ally leaving spots
in our eyes, though
they never noticed us
star-gazing, dreaming
neil armstrong landings
the moon was big & full
(through your window)
but i'll never tell
(because i would surely
get in trouble)
Just a silly verse based on the prompt over at Friday Poetically. I chose the crickets to play off of and of course i would...well...ok so any way, middle school...you know...boys, i tell you...

Neil Armstrong landing July 20, 1969...you capture well the fascination with our generous night accomplice.
Lovely - and please don't tell!
Anna :o]
Seems secrets are the order of the day, dear poet...you're always welcome to my big book of alibi's ;) Got a kick out of this one as I twisted my head around the full moon through the window...sorry, it's just a silly Friday. Loved it...as per the norm!
Discretion is the better part of valor, as my dad used to say...
;)
well, um, yeah....love it man :)
a midsummer nights dream
I didn't know you could see the moon on a submarine race. I LOVED this one.
Curtains. I need curtains.
Curtains. I need curtains.
:) hehe now we're curious ;)
Ah, Brian, come on. Confession is good for the soul. Especially on the Internet, so I'm told.
man you are so prolific...this is such a fun little piece...tell your wife happy mother's day for me from one of your blog buddies!
Whatever could you be talking about here? (smiles)
... those were the days ...
I hope the bushes weren't poison ivy!
I just love this! You set the scene perfectly.
middle school boys...a very UNIQUE lot.
Hi! Brian...
Thanks, for sharing your dreams Of "star gazing," and "crickets" when in middle school.
[Postscript: Brian, I too want to wish your wife, (Mrs.Miller) and all mothers a very Happy Mother's Day! this week-end.]
DeeDee ;-D
haha I don't know what you mean one bit
Why would telling make someone have a fit
You're only listening to the crickets play
Looking at the moon at night not day
Yeah prob not really what was going on right?
But I'll keep quiet as I wouldn't want to start a fight
Boys will be boys..not always puppy dog tails..but other things...and there has to be a conspiracy of sorts involved. A little Huck Finn on the naughty side. I like it.
A naughtier Huck Finn and his friends. Boys will be boys and there must be some sort of conspiracy involved. A secret..and we can guess what. Who cares. This is beyond puppy dog tails...I like it.
I like the simplicity of the scene; the boys wanting to be exploratory and independent, stretching their limits, but not too far.
Wonderful notes of sweetness.
yes, it was...haha
something always lurks below and between your simple words
and so effortlessly
Have a fun Mother's Day
"a crickets serenade"...love that part! It's like adding spice to it all! Oh yes, thanks for stopping by at my blog. Cheers. :)
such sweet secrets on a Friday night, intriguing sentimentality in all the right ways.
Have a good week end

Cute. It leaves your mind to wonder. what won't you tell.
Dreamy and the atmosphere just perfect with the getting caught factor thrown in oooohh..I love it.
I'll never tell. Great read. Some good sounds and memories. And thanks for the comment.
The guilty secrets of our youth, mostly so innocent now. And crickets, too. Liked it, for being simple especially.
I was going to say Midsummer Nights Deam but nance marie beat me to it.
They all say that!!! Ha!

Was it Shakespeare or Dylan Thomas who said that no poet should ever, ever feel the need to explain, let alone apologize, for the words that crickets and moons chirp into a young boy's imaginings?
{smile}
It is so enjoyable when you write of the young boys and their antics. Some ways "boys will be boys" is really a fun thing.
youth and long time agos, love it
Middle school boys...can't live with them but certainly do not want to live without them.

Fun and perfect... Wish your wife a Happy Mother's Day.. I hope all of you have a great weekend :)
That's what nice evenings are for!
The Sundays have a song called "Static and Silence" about the moon landing. I love that song, it seems to capture the mystery and victory of it all. You do a pretty good job here too :).
Ah, this was cute! I was wondering what this might be about when I saw the title. Didn't really expect this, but I love it!
Not silly - but poetic!
