Over at Friday Poetically, I challenged our readers to write a poem using words from Shel Silverstein's "One Inch Tall." Here is my humble offering:
if our love dreams
only in whispers,
school me to
here the sound
so i dance
true to you.
Then my inner immature teen took over and wrote:
i eat delicious yellow beans,
moon schools, some
worms dance, whisper
magic treats, today
love me asleep
before you go.
Then i got emo and wrote:
i dance in cold teardrop rain
love was only a dream
worms mined in my sleep
It's Friday, what can I say...I try not to take myself too seriously. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend. Enjoy the vast change of weather. I don't know where you live, but I know the weather is so odd. If I get hit by a raindrop I'll drown, if I am warmed by the sunshine I brown. 'Cause I'm only only one inch tall. Loved it.
simply fabulous offerings...came to check your 55, but now it seems I must ck OSP...Shel started my passion for poem at 8 ~
I like all three--especially the delicious yellow beans and all. And nice macabre touch at the end. Lots of things to do with a simple list of words, aren't there. This was a great prompt, brian, because I was dry as a cup of dust before I saw it. Thanks.
I like them :) Happy Easter mate :)
These were fun to read, love. Like them all but I'd say my fav. is the light airy feel of the yellow bean poem.
The yellow beans one is my favorite. It's playful, it's fun and it's perfect. All three are great, but this one is just adorable. Like a cute little yellow peep.
love 'em.
hahaha that's one thing I will never accuse of you
As seriously one can tell you don't do
Especailly with each commnet I see
From you to me
Have to admit your inner teen I liked the most
But is that really a surprise coming from this host
Have a fun weekend
And know the bunny is eaten so he will be around the bend..haha
Oh how clever..love all sides of your personality! :)
They're all great! I can tell you had lots of fun with them. I might have to try my hand at that challenge.
I like the poems especially the first one. Thanks for the comments on the kids poems they really enjoyed getting such positive feedback.
It's almost like 3 for the price 1 of one today here. All were good. The second one seemed the most like you though.
Brian,
3 poems! I am impressed! Your 3rd one is making me imagine an emo Shel Silverstein brooding on the stump of the Giving Tree and looking dejected.
Well you know our family loves Shel and I like your three unique offerings. Maybe a new book of poetry titled,"Where the Driveway Ends?" Have a glorious Easter.....
ya ya ya goot
Awesome! I like the emo one the best! lol heee
Have a wonderful weekend Brian! *hugs*
Warm sun, cool rain and a Happy Easter to you!
Hi! Brian...
Unfortunately, I'am not familiar with poet? Shel Silverstein yet...(with "yet" being the operative word...) with that being said, your poem is very beautiful!
[Postscript: I like the shifting Of voice(s) or thoughts too in your poetry...Brian, Happy Easter! and Happy Earth Day! to you, your family and most definitely, to your readers.]
Thanks, for sharing!
DeeDee ;-D
Shel Silverstein is the reason I'm a poet. Love those worms.
They're all nicely done. I wish you and yours a wonderful Easter.
Great job!! I am impressed!
like the inner teen, nice to see someone could use the word worms somewhere. Very clever, as always:)

You are Amazing, I'll never say it often enough
hey claudia, i tried to stick to only the words given...here was but hear was not so played it a bit...
Emo ...yeah man that is all of it. Ever try to get an emo kid laughing?
Great how you demonstrate the different poems that can emerge on the same topic depending on which aspect (subpersonality) of ourself is doing the writing.
So much fun and endearingly touching.
I thought those were great. Especially the emo one!
Nicely done...Have a great weekend, Brian.
I like the different facets, Brian.
Have a beautiful Easter!
LOVE Shel Silverstein...and LOVE these, too! Have a great day!
My favorite line..."love me asleep before you go". Love it!
But you are Brian Miller, and I love Brian Miller! Happy Easter weekend to you and your family.
Offerings, love it Brian. Three very good ones. Happy Easter!
Three gems.... wow!
As a huge fan of Shel Silverstein, I appreciated your childish side!

These are fantabulous, Brian. Shows your wide-ranging talent. I'm having an emo time these days so fell in love with that one.

loved the first one, tender and sweet and the second was my fav, hands down. My inner adolescent snorts loudly.

Very Good times three :)

i think i like the teen you best....smiles...
i dance
with hope and
grace and love
and pray the sprites
rain droplets of
peace
upon your soul
(cheers)
They're all three enjoyable in their own way, but I think your inner immature teen got closest to Shel. Good stuff.
Use your heart not the ears and you will love these whispers loud and clear....
I'm off to check out Shel...
You're funny and smart and clever and talented and just enough twisted to make it all work. :)
I like those yellow beans and moon beams. Nice.
shut the front door! You truly are in touch with all the things that make you who you are. . . the greatest poet and wordsmith among us!
