55 - hot & fresh

bronze skin slick
i watch you dance
float wet & turn,
naked, my eyes stuck
mouth damp press
fingerprints in window
glass beside those
of other guys & even
ladies who come
for the chance to
take you between
their lips....mmm...
doughnuts, but
i call you Krispy Kreme
cause we on a
first name basis.

Tell a story in 55 words. Give it a shot or just read more, go see G-man.

Sorry, if you are a Dunkin Doughnuts fan, they just don't compare...plus at KK you get to watch them being made through the window...all about the build up as they roll fresh off the rack...mmm..mmm..mmm...lol, ok I am just being silly today.

The old bait and switch. I thought you were going in a different direction at first. Anyway, still sweet.

A wonderful write Brian. You had me with those great openning lines. And you delivered a intriguing thought.

David Allen Waters said...

I first discovered krispy kremes while living in Tenn...I have cheated on Dunkin ever since :)

Brian Miller said...

ha. yeah i wrote this at the last KK on the way to NYC...they are all Dunkin up north so i felt like a warrior checking in at the last outpost...lol.

bonnie, its my 5th or 6th time...used to be an instructor for it 10 years ago...just my recertification tonight...and break is almost done...back at it...

We are definitely on the same wavelength 55-wise, but yours tastes better.

man--now I want one of those chocolate cake-styles with the clear sugar glaze...or blueberry, or...or...

happygirl said...

:( have never had a HOT Krispy Kreme. Only old boxed KKs in the grocery store. So, not impressed, so far. Of the 55... IMPRESSED.

CM said...

Our KK went out of business here! Crazy, huh! Of course, in my line of work, only I would know that...hehe.

Small world, I used to be a CPR instructor until I starting having babies. It's kinda hard to lean over a maniquin and do chest compressions when you're six months preggo...LOL! Now, I just keep my cert current too.

Fireblossom said...

LOL! Donut lust!

Well, KK's are sweet as can be, I agree. I like the creme filled!

Monkey Man said...

I like my donuts covered up. Preferably with chocolate or maple and bacon. But only at Voodoo Donuts here in good old PDX.

Tara Miller said...

Aaaah this is a delicious poem! It was fun to have you read it to me while driving to NY and licking the sweet glaze from our fingers....you really know how to speak my love language!!! lol

This is a fun one

Ami Mattison said...

Can't tell you how many times I've skidded across a few lanes in ATL and braked when I saw the HOT DONUTS NOW sign flashing in the window of the Krispy Kreme on Ponce de Leon Avenue. Open all night, that place was dangerous!

Clever write, love the sensuality of it all!

rosaria said...

Oh, you teaser you!

The first time I went to the Krispy Kreme I thought I was in Disneyland, loved it SO MUCH! And still do, hot fresh, sooo good!

Very vivid in your 55 tale
Even though it puts no winds in my sail
Food wise that is
For that just isn't my biz
As picky eater am I
Nope don't lie
But you seem to be having a lot of fun of late
Must but that friction stuff making you so elate..LOL

Can't beat a KK...I totally agree.

you really are my twin separated at birth, aren't you? ha.

Margaret said...

Used to get these only once a year through a school fundraiser. Then we moved to a place where there is a KK shop! Have only gone 3 times in almost 2 years - but it IS hard to drive by...

Pheromone Girl said...

Wait... Monkey Man stole my line! Cheater.

Brian, I should send you some, you'll never eat Krispy Kreme again. After all, Grape Ape donuts, dunked in unsweetened purple koolaid and topped with toasted marshmallows? Or, the "big wheel", a 2# glazed. Heaven...

Teresa said...

Yum! Chocolate or jelly filled--I love them all! What a delicious 55!

They say you shouldn't shop for food when you're hungry - and that is what KK are doing - making you hungry! Clever ploy... and nice post too.

Good thing you weren't thinking along the lines of G-man's mind today. Krispy Creme's are so much nicer...Speaking of first aid I have to be recertified soon as well. Have a great weekend....

I LOVE THIS! HILARIOUS!
Our fam will snub DD for a KK! We love to see that "HOT" light on! We live a good 35-40" from the nearest and I am QUITE SURE that is a GOOD thing!

LEWD THINKING about a doughnut! BUT SO TRUE! Melts in your mouth! HA!

Kate Hanley said...

I, for one, would not apologize about Dunkin Donuts because I can't stand their donuts or their coffee. I do like Krispy Kreme though and your poem, of course I didn't realize it was a bout donuts at first which was great.

good one. sorry i am deprived of this pleasure. dont even have clear idea about what a doughnut is :)

but loved the foodie's delight.

The Bug said...

Chocolate covered creme filled all the way for me :) My childhood is full of hilarious stories of going to Charlotte NC (my small town didn't have KK) to get donuts. It's a complicated story, but in order to get to the store my mom had to do several illegal maneuvers. It was worth it!

TechnoBabe said...

No doughnuts in this little town. The Corner Cafe does have home made pies and they are awesome.

Alan Burnett said...

The doughnuts we get over here are pretty tame affairs, thus I am looking forward to my holiday in the States to fill up on the real thing.

Brian, you are undermining my sugar fast!

We had a few Krispy Kreme shops here in Michigan a few years ago, but they've all folded with the bad economy. Damned shame too, because there's nothing quite like that free, hot Krispy Kreme donut they'd hand you when you walked in.

Mmmmm! :)

(Damn you, Brian, for reminding me!)

Magpie said...

You and Steve were at polar opposites today!
To call you a naughty, misleading boy, I would have to explain how I knew where to be led. :)

PS; I had my daughter explain yesterday's text to me. (I'm such a dinosaur.) I knew it was beautiful before but now more so. :)

Do you know the calorie and fat content of those things? They arrived in Canada, with much fanfare. They dazzled everyone and sales skyrocketed, then slipped into oblivion... and they were gone. They fame washed away but yesterday's coffee.

♥ Boomer ♥ said...

Sheesh! Ya had me going!

MomsJournal said...

hahaha great 55! I've only had Krispy Kreme once and didn't get the big deal - I guess I should try them piping hot before judging though.

RNSANE said...

Brian, I am glad I didn't see this until now, nearly midnight, or I'd be heading over to Krispy Kreme. I wish they hadn't opened one in Daly City. Most of the time, I can easily resist unless someone like you tantalizes me and, then, my willpower goes to hell. I can easily consume a half dozen myself. They are delectable, warm, fresh from the oven, knowing how many calories they contain! And realizing that, by morning, they'll be lodged on my rear!

For a long time, I lusted for a Krispy Kreme glazed donut, glistening in its sugary cloak of goodness... until I tasted one. As the enamel began to melt off my teeth, I discovered that with KK, like many things, the reality was not as good as the fantasy. That day, my fantasy was shattered. I've never had another one.
