if i wrote you a love song
it would be in crayon &
mostly in pictures, leaving it
open to interpretation, unveiling
something new each time you
read it, on the mood or the
moment and depth of
these feelings----
lemon yellow sun, a giraffe
with blotchy spots down his
neck, none of this
'eye' 'heart' 'sheep' nonsense
no it would be deep, maybe
a playful squirrel or aliens
landing on cheese moons,
something you might see on
display outside kindergarten
classrooms----
it may not look like anything
but it would be real, not some
popped up version of romeo
and juliet, no it would be back
when you blushed at holding
hands and kisses were atom
bombs obliterating your world
but you couldn't help smiling--
so what do you say, i know
you are busy, enough things to
do to make you all dizzy, but
i brought my crayons and
some scratch paper, how about
we color a love song, today.

...Imagine being that loved....amazing Brian
last verse second line?
Crayons are cool. I like crayon drawings. Now if I could only make my hands stop shaking and my heart cease the fluttering from the thought of you writing me a love poem with crayons I may yet make it through the morning.
sweet,
yet real.
she's very lucky
What fun words this Saturday morning...I like the sound of coloring a love song...this put a smile on my face...happy weekend coloring love songs..
I had those, a long time ago.
Now, some have let go. Some I've lost, while some have just withered away.
As deb said, she is very lucky indeed :)
Cheers,
Joy...
Super sweet. Crayons and love songs. Beautiful.
nice invitation, i wonder if she will be able to resist it. :)
have a beautiful weekend brian with lots of sketching.
draw a rhino for me if you please.
Marvelous and sweet and touching. Hallmark could pay you big ones!
awww, I'm happy I stopped by before leaving for our trip, some romance is welcome in this rainy gray weather :-) have a wonderful we Brian!
this is so sweet.
and now I want to color :)
I would love for someone to colour a love sing with me...
Beautifully romantic...
Have a great weekend dear Brian,
xoxo
love it!
Colouring a love song... wonderful. Sigh!
This is great.. so original, fun and as everyone has said sweet.
i love the connection of how children draw from their hearts, so pure and loving.
I love that! So sweet! You are such a romantic!
I'm melting. I feel like being in love just so that I can draw a picture in crayon
Crack open a bottle of the good stuff ... and let the colors decide the mood. It is O.K. if you go outside the lines.
and it's not even Valentine's Day!
OOOOOooooooOOOOOOOooooo. I like this a lot. Have you ever read anything and thought...."Man, I wish I had thought of that!"
On a side note...wondering what you would do with a salmon crayon?
Tender and endearing Brian.
So touching and heartfelt. She's a lucky lady.
What a sweet and loving poem. I hope you do color your love song. I know it will express the greatness of your heart.
playfgul, sweet, colorful...just like love :)
Favorite line? "It may not look like anything but it would be real..."
A bit of lovely on this rainy morning.
Crazy crayon love! Wonderful!
what is deeper than a playful squirrel or aliens
landing on cheese moons?
Love should be playful.
aawww - this is so lovely - i was smiling all through the reading ...and think i should grab some crayons and start writing on my love poem right now..
Brian, I love love love this one!! It so takes love back to when it was fresh, innocent, and pure.
When PS and I first met I worked at a day care. She got crayon drawings quiet often back in the day. It truly is about the little things that count!
Thanks for resurrecting that memory!
i love it... please teach me how to write poetry
Landing on cheese moons.... How cool is that? :)
that's so sweet...you could probably put Hallmark out of business :)
Last stanza, or should I say verse, is pure love song indeed.
Love the playfulness and sincerity.
Not a syllable out of place!
Wonderful lines and images.
Really a true POEM- KUDOs

Brian, you rock the fun yet poignant verse.
Playful creative and spontaneous is the best kind of love (and life) there is. I learn so much about living and life from your poetry, thank you for sharing these words with the world.
So very sweet.
How romantic, Brian. I hope she will.
What an imagination you have, Brian.
Searching for crayons!
Maggie X
Nuts in May
Ah it's magical that one!
I like the images you would draw with the crayons. Wondering if could more of those into the poem - show us some of these crayon love poems. Just an idea, I like the poem though. It's sweet without being sickly.
I love crayon drawings too :) specially love doing the sun drawings with them.
What a sweet way to 'paint love' :)
How could she say no to such a sweet invitation? The laundry mountain can wait a while longer. It's not like it's going anywhere! lol.
ah- we sometimes go to a restaurant that has paper on the table tops and crayons for the adults- we always have such a sweet time drawing.
coloring a love song... that's what you've done here so beautifully, Brian
The giraffe with the blotches...something about that makes me smile. A love song like that would be a hit indeed.
Loved this. Love should be playful and inspired...
How true, Brian.
Mr. Romance.. with a full box of Crayolas.
ah happy memories mate, superb...
oh brian this is so very sweet!!!! i love it! xo
I like! One of my favorites!
this has me just smiling from ear to ear.
Brian you surprise and amaze me day after day--but this one tops all--it has the tempo and a beat to rival any symphony's Third Movement, hidden rhyming rivaling any else, great love presence evoking early puppy-love-memories, and is full of "Brian-speak", those indefinable wordings which define YOU!
Excellent!
PEACE!
This HAS to be my favourite of yours yet. LOVE it. Now...I best run to Target to pick up a box of crayons! LOL :)
Color her lucky!
Hmmm...I think this would make a better love song than a poem...or is that your intention? It's sweet, though.
Great & original poem!! I bet my neice and nephew would love this! :-)
Hope your having a wonderful & Warm weekened!! ~ Coreen
My favorite poem evah is written in crayon......so love it, it is from my son....:-)Hugs
Fantastic! Love the idea :)
Nice.
Warm and waxy.
=)
The only kind of song one would like
Wow! Thanks for reviving a memory. .
wow, I'd lack the self-confidence and would be trying to control my message too much...unable to leave it open for interpretation.
and maybe therefore loosing its depth and meaning
I think this is one of my all-time favorites, Brian. It's the pure simplicity of love at it's finest!
I LOVE that last line! ...color a love song. Fantastic. So playful and sweet, this poem. An artist friend of mine said that crayons stand the test of time - they don't fade. Not a bad thing to used for a loved one after all.
Oh that is so darling. Love this.
That one was so pure and vulnerable...it has me misty eyed.
It is a trusting love, to write like that is a trusting love.
Beautiful.
Who would refuse such a sweet way of expressing love and of course, the witty Brian!
Joy always,
SUsAN
very beautiful...I don't know you personally but there is always something in your love poems that seems to flow from your soul more so than anything else that you write...(which would make sense...you guys must be soul mate, eh? :)
Wow, that is SO beautiful!
Well written Sir. :-)
A good thought about coloring a love song.
