You really are the best. Mot a word wasted, not an image avoided.
love it Brian, can hear the child talking in this one, waiting for that peanut butter sermon....bkm
be careful of that sweet lure o' sin, Preacher Man!
Your writing, so vividly, takes me to places I've never been. I've never had peanut butter pie. Sounds heavenly, and who would know more about that than the preacher.
Peanut butter pie...never heard, had, will.
I like butter without peanut as well as pie. :)
Love the voice you gave this narrator. Nicely vivid, too. As usual ;-)
I kind of read this one on several different levels. Maybe preacher man ain't practicing what he's pushing on us. It was cool how with just a few words from you, my mind was flooded with so many thoughts.
Now I'm hungry for peanut butter pie!
Great one!
yea, that sweet lure o' sin is sticky, hard to get rid of and it escapes no one...
sometimes, sin, like pie just can't be resisted... well done my friend
oh, well done - fabulous poem
So deftly written. Loved it.
=)
excellent. lovin 'da way it's written! hee hee hee.
also, yes, glad you like calling it "the bux" too, that's what my husband calls it too - he says i waste all my money there, sorry i missed your sketch yesterday still getting back into swing of things. i will be around though! xxoo
nutty bit o' peanut pie
or should that be Naugty bit o'pie
I am with this kid! I could NOT hear a WORD the preacher man would say 'cause I would be WAITIN' for him to lick that pudding pie off!!
EXCELLENT! Best read out loud!
pb pie? yuck
This cracked me up!
I do not know how you combined the ability to see the detail of the world and its people and that little bit of feeling and then be able to put it into words...but you are wonderful at it! You sad posts are striking in their pain...but I do love your light posts.
Great, Brian. I'd love a taste of peanut butter right now. Never had it in a pie though.
That peanut butter pie...sinful for sure.
Wonderfully evocative... I can almost taste that creamy goodness!
Peanut butter pie--an occasion of sin for sure!
This made me smile. Good one, B
Excellent vernacular, and I LOVE peanut butter anything.....
Very nice... and now I want peanut butter pie.
yum! and I don't even like peanut butter :)

" sweet lure o'sin' sure fits with the rest ! good one- I love the taste and
lingering creamy sense- good one thanks!
Nice! Now, please excuse me while I go find me some peanut butter pie! YUM!!!
Oh yeah...I'd be totally distracted myself! haha..this was great!
You are AMAZING! And in no time at all, I'm the 31st commenter, I am not the only one to appreciate your incredible abilities. :-)
hahahahaha (after I had to read it three times to understand what was there :) )
Nice! :) Loved the voice.
Peanut butter pie? Really?
very cool mate, loved the narrator part.
Ha, don't we all know somebody who'll 'keep something for later' in the corner of his mouth.
Great little poem.
Your child's point of view is perfectly communicated here. Love this.
Ha ha, i really like the way you accented this
Brilliant
That peanut butter will stick!
Oh this one made me laugh. Laugh and start craving reeses!
Loved it!
I don't blame that preacher man one bit. I'm rather fond of peanut butter myself.
LOVE it! Now, I want peanut butter...
Are you writing about my pie and Barry Webster's visits??? LOL Enjoyed the writing.
Took me back in time to the first time I ever read Little Orphant Annie and discovered at the age of 9 that I loved poetry of every description. You are a jewel, and that's a fact
Sandi
I love peanut butter...now I'm hungry for peanut butter pie...lol
I shared this one with my husband and we both chuckled. Peanut butter pie is his favorite! I could totally visualize your words !
I have the best recipe for peanut butter pie. If you want it, let me know! Did the preacher have a beard or a mustache? I thought you were going to go someplace else when you spoke of him visiting on Sunday.
Brilliant. Preacher man should be careful whose house he goes ta visit...
I love this!
Great finish!
It's amazing how different slang or local accents can paint different pictures in our minds. Can you say the same things in a different voice to see what it does to our mental pictures?
Okay, there is a voice that goes with that man. He lived down the road, "a piece", from us when I was growing up!
I can see him reciting for you!
Great work Brian!
ha! so great! i can see it... (hope the mountains rested you brian. if you were able to write a post for me, i'm excited! otherwise, no worries. blessings.)
rhythm to beat...
Mmm, peanut buttah
Peanut butter pie, now that makes my mouth water.;)
As always, you manage to me me feel and see, just with words.;)
Have a great day Brian,
xoxo
Love Love Love it!!!! Very beautiful and eloquently wriiten :)
hey! you're supposed to be listening...
Never heard of peanut butter pie. If you are going to describe something so delish, you need to include a recipe. *smiles*
Great fun watching for that last lick from the pulpit.
Could not have said it any better Brian. Love it. Blessings.
Hi! Brian...
Unfortunately, I'am not familiar with "Peanut Butter Pie."
Thanks, for sharing a very "short" descriptive poem...very visual.
DeeDee ;-D
wow oh Brian, you never disappoint lol
Wow, I can see I have my work cut out playing catch-up! As brilliant as ever, Brian!
Sweet visuals.
Look at you! What a delightful piece!
Look at you! What a delightful piece!
It depicts a somewhat light hearted happening of a Big Mama girl's observation! Excellent!
lol! Thank you for the smiles today, Brian!
Oh, yum...gimme some!
love it! awesome!
Dat preacher dere better not come to the table wi'out bring some a his own foodly fare. Cuz I just might stand up in his church and ask dat ol fat man why he drank all my daddy's beer.
As a partaker of both the "peanut butter pie" and those grand sermons planned during halftime of UNC ballgames I loved this post as I did the pie, the games, and the sermons. Thank you for this reminder of those wonderful Sunday afternoons!
I have a new testament written in Gullah dialect. Sounds a bit like this :)
I was thinking that would be awful difficult to swallow. :)
Nice job Brian.
Congrats on your POTW from Hilary.
Cheers, jj
Beautiful poem...made me smile!
Hugs

Ha--I would like some of that.
I am reminded of Ira Levin - in Rosemary's Baby, Rosemary is distracted by the advice of her doctor, because he has a bit of something caught in his beard.
Great read - you are the master of these shorts.
