cracked cookie fortune

What can you say in 160 characters? Go tell Monkey Man.
And for my lovely friends over at Sunday Sketches, a mixed media piece. The fortune cookie is done in water color, while the words are from last month's Readers Digest.

Neat artwork, Brian, and terrific 160. Made me think of my fortune cookie short. Thankfully our fortunes aren't dictated by cookies...
That's a crack up. Great 160 Brian. As usual, I will post after midnight tonight. Thanks for playing along.
I love this: profound and witty!
creative 160...nice to see visuals on your posts...I'll have to check out this sunday sketch thing...Happy Sunday!
You're so darned clever!
Very clever piece of prose - nice collage lots of letter cutting!
I like this one a lot. Collage is a favorite of mine.
Interesting 160, hope your fortune was what you sketched for your self,,,
cheers,
joanny
ah I do a 160 but forget to attach a sketch...
Imagine if we took it seriously (I suppose some do) and let some halfwit dictate our lives!
Love reading yer stuff!
I've never had a fortune cookie... I guess, unlike your words, they're not to be taken seriously.
I'm digesting your cookie as we speak and it's rather delicious ;)
welldone Brian, wow
We're always letting someone write parts of our life story, aren't we, until we realize it's our book they're writing in and we snatch it back ;)
Wonderful collage..!!
inferno
aha, got the collage going--did the kids have fun helping?
The only cookies that'll call the shots in my life are the ones that add something to my waistline! Fabulous poem, Brian! :)
oh i really like the art work
(and the words/sentiment too)
i should like this on my wall
I love this creating, it has a collage feel to it and I so enjoy making collages myself.;)
I am looking forward to see you sharing more of your artistic skills when it comes to images as well dear Brian.;)
xoxo
Nice 160 :-) - and I like the artwork too.
My 160 - Silence.
I think I refer to eat the cookie with a sip of tea than bother with the scrap of paper inside. I mean what does it mean when it says "you will meet the love of your life" when that happened decades ago?
I really like this one, Brian. Words and picture, both.
:)
Interesting way to put it. And must sometimes be true.
I'm relieved...thought we had a hostage situation on our hands at first glance;)
Fabulous mixed media piece...you continue to surprise.

My fortune cookie says,
MSG harmress. No rie!
:) FUN!
Obviously you can say a lot in 160 Brian. Love the picture as well. Thank you.
How often we let others (things included) dictate our lives. Somehow the fortune cookie system is not here in India.
Joy always,
Susan
Brain, great post and I love the collage. I actually thought the cookie was cut from a magazine also until I read your post. Wonderful job on the watercolor, the cookie looks real.
yes, we alone are in charge of our lives ... happy Sunday Brian!
Crafty and creative Brian.
Interesting idea the fortune cookie!!! As for your 160 words, clever!!
I've seen your fortune and it's brilliant!
ah... very very good.
I like that you are adding some art as well.
ha ha ha. but i always beleive them to be true!!! love it, and love the collage work here, too. you are so clever. my kids and i make those, too! enjoy sunday with your family. xo
Amen.
Beautiful watercolor, Brian.
Nice, Brian. Like a ransom note, In a way.
In 'ransom note' style, no less! - J
Excellent words and art!
Oh so creative! Nicely done. Neat metaphor - love how you use them so well. Happy Sunday, my friend.
You clever man. This gave me a great chuckle this morning. Brilliant!
oh what a clever piece!!! wonderful work and great to meet you!
Pretty cool one today my friend.
One day I'll have to try the 160. You do it so well and make it seem easy, but I know better.
clever!
if i were a fortune cookie i would say: you rock the 160 crowd..! smiles
Brian I sit in classes with people who say they are writers and yet in the 2 1/2 years now of college the best pieces of writing I have read, have all been from your blog!
Brian, I've been reading your posts off and on but hope to become a regular. I've liked your stuff from the beginning....very clever.
interesting piece, Brian!
have a wonderful day
Just found your blog and really liked reading this post. Awesome image you created with the fortune cookie, but that poem you wrote is awesome!
deep :) good 160!
oh I see, it isn't true after all? "a great adventure in store for me" thwarted by the naysayer!
just finish every line with the tag: "...in bed"
Di
I would like a job writing fortunes for the fortune cookies. I would write some that would be more real.
Mmm, fortune cookies.
when I was a youngster I took those so seriously, it took years for me to realize...nah, nothing to them;)
cheers
It would be kind of a fun job to write those fortune cookies. It's always fun to see what they say and sometimes they are actually fitting to what is going on in my life. My friends and I have this tradition in which we never pick our own fortune cookie..instead we each take turns at handing them to one another.
Happy Sunday to you and yours Brian.
Wonderful poem and fortune cookie piece! We must write our own fortunes, mustn't we!
Cool artwork (are you holding your fortune for ransom?) and words! Important sentiment. Mere cookies should not dictate our lives. Horoscopes on the other hand... ;)
Never mind the faux wisdom. I just wish they tasted nicer.
Great ost, really like your poem.
Nice 160 as usual Brian. And very interesting sunday sketch. I like your style.
yeah, kinda like believing in the astrology reading in one's local paper... we write our own stories (you said it) - good one
Did someone post that pic for you?
Most fortune cookies are made in Chicago...hahahahaha
Great Job Son.....G
Very clever and I like the collage mixed with your own painting!
Isn't this true?
I never thought of it like that, just written down random, but we always open them eagerly and await what is contained within, don't we???
haha..funny. Although, I did get a fortune once that blew me away in it's meaning and timing..whoa. I should blog about it some day. :)
:) great post and sketch. The way to go,free the rebel inside yourself ^^
That was so fun! At first I didn't know you had written it all out below and I was trying to read all the words in the picture, lol. The accompanying artwork was awesome!
What a fun collage piece! I love the composition and the variation in sizes of the letters.
wonderful, I love the truth and humor in this!
Amazing art and words...!! and soo true..... I love that.. honestly how many people feel a tad bit of hope when they read those messages...
.....((runs in after making her debut from that rockin' touchdown she just made.....))
Hey...so sorry for the delay in commenting today. I really took alot of the day to pamper myself...ohh lala...it was SO nice.
Anyway, I like this piece. I zoomed in on your fortune cookie...dude, I want to see some more watercolour from you. I'm seriously impressed. And I love how you always manage to tie your words/feelings in with your art. Very honoured that you are participating in SS.
Happy...umm....what's left of the day! hee :)
awesome post
loved the sketch and the words right along with it!
This you should frame. Your art is just a good as your poetry. Nice that you have combined the two here! I am amazed at how you find the time to do all that you do AND comment to others. You must NEVER sleep!

There is a fortune cookie factory here in Chinatown and my husband had them put my wedding ring in it.
Clever piece Brian.
Clever Bri
very nice
Readers Digest eh????
nice 160
I love that watercolor fortune cookie... very cool.
Hi Brian, Fun, fabulous and festive! I'm impressed by your creativity with words, letters and images! (Sorry about the three "f" words; getting sort of silly on a sketch Sunday).
Love your 160 & your very creative collage. The fortune in our lives on the most part is created by ourselves not by some random piece of paper in some cookie dough.
aaah, those fortune cookies. how the words can be pulled in so many directions that they DO in fact tell us what we want to hear...
Fantastic!!I haven't had a fortune cookie, but would love to crack one!Had fun on this one!
And sooooo love the artwork.I guess a true artist can do wonders.
brilliant 160. the versatility of your blog is one of its greatest charms.

now wouldnt that be fun to just write fortunes!
I love fortune cookies - both the cookie itself and the little good wish enclosed within.
hmm I've never wondered before who would be the copywriter of fortune cooky texts
I like fortune cookies. I have saved a few of the fortunes over the years because they were linked to a poignant moment.
What? Fortune cookie fortunes are not written by God? I beg to differ. :-)
Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wished to say that I have really enjoyed surfing around your weblog posts. In any case I'll be subscribing for your rss feed and I am hoping you write again very soon!
