if the sun & the moon
finally met, instead
of chasing each other
& spent the day together,
what they would do?
would their love making
tear our world asunder?
What can you say in 160 characters? Say it, and tell Monkey Man.
And a self portrait for my friends at Sunday Sketches.

Wow...all the chakras in love...this is special, you're awesome
Oh..my..Goddess!Don't want to answer to the question.I just will say that the drawing is awesome!!You are really talented Brian!
Perhaps, the moon and the sun should never meet, because if they do so,Earth will be shaking, people are perhaps not ready for such strong love.
HUGE IDEA! -J
The infinite power of passion...in words and paint. I simply love this.
I thought the sun and the moon already engage in lovemaking.
Such a creative soul you are. Original graphics and a Sunday 160 with an Earth shattering question. Thanks for playing along.
Interesting I wrote a poem about the love of the sun and the moon
but it could be a cataclysmic event - wowza
well penned and painted my friend
thanks for catching my typo
smiles from the Moon
If you get a chance can you link up the piece you wrote about homeless to One shoot today? :)
This is wonderful, and thought provoking for sure. It is a question pondered but should never be answered.
Wonderful piece of art right there Brian!
As for the Sun & the Moon making celestial love .. I think it's best that never the twain should meet because it could have a cataclysmic affect on us earthlings but it is a lovely idea!!
Wonderful sketch-- and excellent question.
I believe the effect would be cataclismic. For now doesn't the moon eclipse the sun at times? Even though it's body is small it can have an affect even on the sun, that's a powerful thought. The moon can darken the sun in effect, but the sun still shines on, we just cant see it.
Love the colors in the self-portrait!
I bet it would!!! Love your drawing - stunning.
Colorful & expressive painting.
Pls wish my Angel a Happy Married Life

Hello Brian,
The portrait depicts your colorful personality and I must admit you are very talented in painting as in writing.
When the sun and moon make love the world becomes dark so that we can't see what is happening.Amazing thoughts which needs great study.
Best Sunday wishes to you and your wonderful family,
Joseph:)
their love making definitely would
tear our world asunder..so better they both stay on their assigned seats..
This is Fabulous...The power of LOVE...also, great self portrait too! ooh, such a thought to ponder....xo
A very thought provoking 160.
Your self-portrait is wonderful. It is as varied and multi-layered as you are.
Suggestion: What ever image program you are using should have a watermark feature. You should put at least your name on your images when you post them. I also like to include the date (more for my own information as a handy way to know the date a photo was taken or an image completed.)
your words and painting are amazing..interesting question too.
Very good sketch and your words fit perfectly with it!!! Love the colors and the way night and day become one...
Happy Sunday!!
I always feel behind the curve when I get over here and find several dozen comments ahead of me. But this one, I can't resist telling you how much I love both the sketch and the poem. Very talented person did these!
Hey Salvador Dali II :)
The moon is on fire, it will burn for a while and then turn to ashes once more...
( As for the question, the answer depends on who goes to whom. If the sun comes to the moon, the answer is yes, and if it is the other way round, we will have no lunatics on Earth)
I think they would be like my old dog Daisy, when she chased a squirrel. If the squirrel didn't run fast enough, she would slow down, as if to say, "Go! Go! You're supposed to run, then I chase you!"
arent we all lunatics mona...
Oooh wonderful and the sketch is ... ooh wonderful too :o)
Ooooh I love this one!
Great question! Love the poem.
Perhaps it's best that they go on chasing each other for a while longer!
Interesting self portrait. Bold and brave!
Love your 160! Let's hope that lovemaking never happens!
Nice work. Great way to start my day.
Oooh...lovely art!! :)
"If the sun and moon finally met instead of chasing each other..." Now I must admit that is a thought I have never had...very interesting...you are so creative.
wow! love the sketch
thanks for sharing
Nice picture and words Brian...always making me think. :) Happy Sunday!
Very cool! Not sure I want to find out!
Now I am looking forward to your sketches as much as your prose. Brian, Brian you should write a book!
Not only do you paint with words but with actual paints too! I love the color of both the art and the the prose.
I really dig this.
It reminds me of Plato's Symposium in which he described us - as people - originally being two persons, two pieces of the same soul - I had never considered it in terms of the Gods perhaps also being split.
Great think piece.
That was just wonderful...ps ilove the portrait..... ahhh my talented friend
Good poem, I like it :)
Wow. Amazing art. Just loved it. The more I looked at it, the more layers I found. Great reveal there.
And good question about the sun and moon. Made a great 160!
You have created colorful forms for my delight, and also enjoyed thinking about the sun and the moon! Thanks
The duality of your artwork goes beautifully with your words.
An endless game of tag...loved it!
Oh, what thoughts to ponder on such a glorious morning. Maybe they have secret trysts we never know about.
Brian you never cease to amaze me. I wish I could take some kind of futuristic nano capsule that could travel through your brain. It must be beautiful.
Blessings.
You ask questions that were pondered upon by many for generations. We are all connected.
A happy happy week ahead.
Joy always,
Susan
Very nice, Brian. Let's hope not, and that there is no Interplanetary Interference to mar communication. ;-)
yes...
and sometimes our frivolities tear lives apart too
I love how multi-talented you are Brian. And your art is just as complex in feeling as your words. Asunder...haven't heard that word in a long time!
I am sure they would 'eclipse' all our notions of love ...
Almost a touch of Picasso there, Brian.
Great sketch.... I am oddly humming "you are the sunshine of my life...."
yikes!
the gravity alone would send us spinning, but the fireworks would be fabulous!
mine is up, HERE
watch out for Venus, Mr. Mars
Di
It most certainly would - but what a way to go - perhaps our world would be destroyed then again perhaps pure balance would achieve something altogether new! You have so many styles of painting! Incredible!
Hmmm, one wonders; there are so many ifs in life.
WOW...that's all I've got.
I'm speechless!
(ps...Lorraine's comment sums it up oh so well!)
Love the sketch! I am racking my brain trying to come up with something clever......I got nothing, I am stumped.
Wonderful art work, and when paired with the words...explosive;)
cheers
Lovely self portrait and and words.
Hmm, what would happen? an interesting ponder
Great colors and love the muted edges of this piece! Interesting poem too.
this was lovely. Well done, the sketch was beautiful.
You have posed a most thought provoking question ........ and stellar art to go with it.
I am inclined to believe they enjoy the chase more than the meet. Fickle, huh :)?
BOOM!!!
Thats what would happen...
You are such a romantic! I love it! And I love the bright colors of the painting versus the darker half!
Now that is something I never have thought about...the sun and moon meeting...great thought provoking 160....bkm
woohoo! what an imagination you have! and I bet it would "tear our world asunder" - hopefully in a good way :)
Just got caught up (I was away this week), all the posts are great. Love the sketch and the poem - gives me something to think about when I rake.
My mind is way too littoral for this one.
Now I wouldn't thought of this Brian
.....:-) Hugs
Wow! This is CRAZY-wild! Loving the concept of your painting and the words that tie it all together.
Hey....before I forget...if you haven't checked it out, you should check out www.zoetrope.com. A GREAT outlet for writers of poetry and short stories.
it just might "tear our world asunder" since natural order would be disrupted. Nice 160, cool sketch!
No, surely they'd make lots of wonderful stars?
Yes...but we would go out in a blaze of glory! :) Nice one-60, Brian.
Mars and Venus would be jealous lovely pondering for a Sunday morn.
cheers,
joanny
Yes! The thought, the juxtaposition, the question.
The sketch is marvelous.
Great sketch. Let's hope they never meet - some loves are destined never to be.
Brian, this is an "oh wow" poem which is what I just said aloud perhaps distracting the hubby from the niners.
http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com/2010/11/14/sunday-160-fear-mongering/
Awesome way of integrating a self portrait with the sun & moon story. Very Van Gogh'ish too! Nice!
It would surely be an earth-shattering event.
I hope the sun and moon stay 240,000 miles apart for a good good long time!!
xo
talk about daylight savings
Trippy painting, man! Very appropos of the text.
My first reaction is, love the colors. Feels masculine with a great deal of respect for the feminine, like - as if I didn't already know this from your writing - you're well in touch with your feminine side.
I also very much like the interplay of abstraction and representation, like an intersection between worlds.
Very felt. Very personal. Good work. Do more?
What an explosion of love it would be!Do you think we humans can handle it?haha!
Fabulous words...Wow for the sketch! The one frustration of my life!!I wish I could make my hands draw something worthwhile to share!!
Love this,Brian!
Candie! Where can I see a larger version of the ID pic in your comment here? A skull in a still life; I really want to see that.
Maaaannnn what a thought... love your originality!!!
Oh Wow!! Love your words and sketch!
wow, that's got my mind spinning. I wonder what would happen? :)
That's a union I don't want to happen!
ohhh, did you paint that??
and interesting thoughts :-)
hello dear brian :) your 160 was so beautiful...thought provoking...you never fail to amaze me! thanks so much for stopping by...it felt really good to get a hug from ya!
How do you do that?!?! So thought provoking in just 160 characters AND a self-portrait. Very impressive.
Cheers, jj
What a concept! Wouldn't it be interesting to see what would happen if enemies/foes did this, spent the day together instead of chasing each other?
The sketch...ok, I admit I didn't take time to read the other 92 comments, so maybe someone else already said this, but here's my take of your self portrait (not trying to psychoanalyse, I promise ;-)...The face in the background is the REAL you, the face in front is the mask you wear. Am I close???
In any case, amazing sketch and we all wear masks sometimes :-)
Brian, Brian... Is there anything you aren't good at? Love the art, love your words.
they DO meet sometimes. haven't you ever heard Total Eclipse of the Heart? ;) Is this your self portrait? It's amazing, Brian. I love this particular piece of writing. I think they'd both see stars :)
Great pic!! Is this yours???
So you're an amazing poet AND an artist!
they would make waves
sweet blend of words and image.
Oh, I love that painting/drawing.;) You should do this some more Brian, you have a true talent.;)
An of course your poetic words are always enticing; yes indeed, I wonder would happen if the sun touched the moon...
xoxo
That's what I call ART! Nicely done!
Vivid colors with an even more vivid picture of words :)
brilliant question and poem brian. some things are not meant to be, right?
technically speaking moon is sun's daughter :)
his own born.

wow Brian, so beautiful! the poem and the drawing as well, love those colors on it!!! happy day :-))
Nah the moon would orgasm and the sun would explode. The earth would just be left holding the camera.
The colors you used give a dreamy effect to your artwork. I love it!
Your art complements the poem beautifully. There would be fireworks or the most charged northern lights that would engulf the whole world.
They would collide and we'd all be dead.
:o)
It would be an explosive meeting for sure.
Love your sketch.
Always so cool to see your images and read your words!
I am loving your vibrant colors (you must be taking some funky vitamins!) hee hee
Alright...in my "perfect" world SURELY their lovemaking would bring peace and joy to those who have never experienced its beauty.
Love the color filled sketch.
Thinking about that....
echoeing parenthesis
wow, what a thought..... what would happen.
I love the colors shapes and ideas in this piece, wonderful!
Awesome. This made me think as i had never ever thought what would happen if that were to happen.
Likely, it would be the death of all of us... but for that nanosecond prior, what an incredible moment it would be.
Nice Brian. You are quite a good artist.
I don't think they would like each other, ....opposites attract? i'm not sure
Yep. You're a boy alright.
