if i had a guitar
i would play it
though not very good
they say its because of my fingers
but she never complained
strum
strum
hear her hum &
we sing until
we lose our voices
in one voice
& the neighbors finally
get some sleep
if i had a guitar
i would break it
into many glittering pieces
scattered across the stage
so we'd keep singing.
it's just the headbanger,
in me.

Talk about making beautiful music together...
Oh that's so nice Brian!
lol brian the last comment was mine lmao, thought I was on amys blog but it was yours lol, delete the comment mate, great post by the way :) william.
Nice...sing like no one can hear you, dance like no one is watching...
When I read this one, I got the sense that it was written by some old blues man. Someone who has struggled on the road to make ends meet, but kept pushing on because it was all that he knew. It was all that he loved. The pacing and tone of this piece, though minimalist, were right on.
:) this is nice...
that is very sweet, i used to bang my head, it hurt my neck. i don't do it any more
I can see it now... :)
oh I'm flushing now... sexy-romantic-musical one!
Love it! I'm a headbanger at heart too. I can just picture you smashing your guitar to bits.
Have a great day!
The urge to make music... in spite of everything... Whatever you mean, Brian, it sounds like a country and western / blues-type song - nice!
Nice "headbanger."
I think there's a little headbanger in all of us!
Singing with the one you love or ones you love means never having to say you are sorry for your voice (this applies to me) My two youngest love to sing the 12 days of Christmas and we are all worn out when we finish that one....like how soft this poem is...
That's true love, Brian :) (though your neighbors might not see it that way - lol)
Playing and singing and being together, awesome.
ah making music together.... ;)
I just caught up on several of your posts. As always, I enjoyed each one.
Too bad about the pumpkins. Your boys must have been sad. Your magpie was tremendous. I love suspense.
All of your poetry serves as lessons for me. But I think you didn't actually learn poetry, it was infused in your soul at birth.
Love this. Playful and romantic. Keep on singing!
Sing ......sing a song. Don't worry if it's not good enough for anyone else to hear. This is the mantra I live by!

ah brian - this is beautiful - speaks to my musician's heart..and it doesn't have to be very good - it's the passion that counts...smiles
Luckily Headbangers only need to know how to mosh!
moshing can be a good thing though...smiles.
haha william...i amy leave it just for the mystery...lol....hahaha
This made me smile. Thanks!
If you're covering The Who, the only proper way to end the song is to smash your guitar to bits.
Over the weekend we went camping and the fellow next to us played his guitar into the evening. It was the most incredible sound and his voice...what a treat! If it was anything like that for you, well then...good times!
Wow..so cool...I smell your heart speak in this...nice one!
Cheers.
feel the music, play the music, be the music...
Alive and kicking! ;-)
What was that song that went like " strumming my pain with his fingers..."
reminds me of my son. He is a passionate guitarist , and his band had something recorded recently which is on facebook. Must go and listen !
There is nothing like singing with all of your heart with the one's you love, whether your good at it or not. Nice words Brian! :)
If I had a guitar my kids would break it.
clean up this mess!! geez, don't you know there are kids around that could get hurt on all this junk?
(but I do love accoustic music & would probably dance along with you -just pay for it the next day feeling old and sore... ugh)
Oh, yeah, you are a Guitar Hero! :-)
I hear ya!
awww so sweet ... I played ones guitar for hubby, shortly after we met, till this day he is teasing me about my talent to play a guitar .. ehhmmm ... lol ... happy day Brian!!
Gotta love the harmony that only two voices in love can create.
The neat freak in me would be right behind you with a dustpan to sweep up the pieces. :)
Bang on Brian.
Bang out the music, man!
Nice. I got the Cake song in my head now (Rock n' Roll Lifestyle) that and a line from a movie. I'm too shy to share though.
I like it!
You explore the two sides in us all. Most enjoyable.
Very nice--when in love, people can endure bad music!
I have near-endless guitar music around here. Which I have grown to love. (But oh, how I hate to see a musician break a guitar at a show - it seems sinful.)
I'll bet the headbanger in you could make that guitar sing!
my husband air guitared with a vacuum hose back in our dating days.
it's all romantic.
Always inspire me!
If you heard our neighbors and us whooping it up, you might want to break your guitar! Great post though!
Sorry Brian, I guess I had my mind in the gutter over this one!! I find this very sexy, romantic and a little xrated. I love it!!
you are a rock star!!! keep strumming and humming
You are so, very cool! I'm sorry I haven't been around much but I want you to know how much I appreciate you and the comments you leave me.
:)
P.S. I have missed your posts more than you'll ever know...
As long as you are both still willing to sing together, you're in good shape!
Yeah, but I want to see you crowd surf. ;-)
Made me think of "Guitar Man" by Bread...now I'm telling on myself. :)
Very cute, Brian! Sweet music... :-)
Hug,
Coreen
Fun.
Our 4 year old collects guitars. You are welcome to them if you don't mind a broken string or two.
Okay I have to admit I don't know what a headbanger is....but I'm sure if you played guitar it would be great music....:-) Hugs
headbanging is fun and an art not many people master. i can say that i swing between being a headbanger in real and one at heart. music is divine, anytime!
joy always,
susan
I think the smashing of the guitar would really make the headbanging song more authentic feeling.
But I would expect the moment would fall flat when you see that you've actually smashed your guitar to bits and the music is done...
"Bang your head"...wasn't that a line in an 80s tune??? Oh wait, I just Googled it, it was by Quiet Riot! Ha!
I like the pattern of this poem. Is it free verse or something else?
This made me smile, I would have thought the romantic in you would prefer the sound of a Spanish guitar.;))
Have a wonderful Tuesday dear Brian,
xoxo
so beautiful, tender and loving.

My headbanging occurs again the brick wall that I keep trying to force my way through. Eventually I turn left and take a few Advil. Nice one today. I could accompany on the piano because my fingers plink better than strum.

I guess me and him are past it, although singing and guitar playing were never part of our romance. I sang, he turned away, and I couldn't blame him ... smiles.
Oh I love it! The only time we get to indulge though is when we are alone in the car on a long journey when we sing at the tops of our voices. I have to insist he leaves the headbanging to me though, when he's driving .....
I think that we each have a little headbanger in us, banging away at one kind of thing or another. Keep banging, bro.
Sing...dance...celebrate the love that binds you together.
Love the image of two people singing until their voices give out!!
Hugging you
SueAnn
There is something so free and fun and loving in this, you always come through
Very beautiful as always.
PG
ooh, this is nice ... with a bit of spice! ;)
So nice!
So so so lovely...an absolute piece..heart touching....loved it
Keep Rockin' it OUT!!!
until we lose our voices in one voice
oh I love that image!
"Strum Strum hear her hum....."
I love this....

Haha. this one made me smile. my kids smashed my guitar accidentally by stepping on it whislt wrestlting. lol. i had brought it when I was 16 and was one of the few things carried over with me when i moved stateside! that was the end of my guitar days, acoustic as it was.
Hi! Brian...
I like the sounds of all musical instruments (Including the human voice!)
Thanks, for sharing your feeling with your readers, about the instrument with strings the..."guitar"
and what would occur to the guitar if a person was/is a headbanger.
DeeDee ;-D
You and Bob. :-)
