life is a lie, is
written in black,
on the park bench
at the skate park,
beside the half burned
Marlboro box
& i might
have believed, before,
just for an excuse
to do whatever
but then i
met you
& if it
all is a lie,
please let me
stay ignorant enough
to believe it.
Tell a story in 55 words. Give it a try, or just read more. Go see g-man.

funny how finding the one can change it all...well done friend;)
Oh yes, many have been saved just knowing they are not alone in this world.
I picture some poor, moody skateboarding teenager writing that graffiti.
The writer must have been hurting very much to write that for all to see. Sometimes we feel like life sucks but when we open up to things to be grateful for there are so many.
bliss
great imagery mate, brilliant ;)
"Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies." Fleetwood Mac. Kind of got me thinking that love might actually be a nice thing.
Life being a lie is what keeps it interesting.
I love how you can use so few words to say so much. I can picture the scene and the boy who probably wrote it. Then I can see myself believing so differently. Nice.
And all this time I thought life is a highway. I want to ride it all night long. :)
Dang, you're good! Okay, so you have like 7 ghost writers bring forth this material for you, do you not?? Yes, that must be it. Or 12 writers, yes it must be 12!!
xo
Nice.
Loud and clear. I'll stick with ignorance as well. My 55 will be posted shortly.
I like subtle effect of the love and emotions concerned in this..."Life is a lie?"...what a philosophy to live with.
TGIF, have a wonderful one,
Cheers, Brian.
:) thank you Brian
Ignorance can be bliss--especially if you have raised a teen. Wonderful 55!
♥namaste♥
Oh yeah. This is the good stuff.
Most of us prefer the lie too. Amazing what you can say in so few words.
@CM and @techno...true that...there was a point in my teen years i would have wrote it...
jannie...actually i am a computer...smiles.
This is very cute. My 55 is up...still waiting on G to post.
Hurry up G, hehe!
lies and truths are often taken one for the other ;)
You're a mighty good computer, then :)
This is so well-stated, Brian. I'll take the ignorance for $200, please.
so many can take beauty and generate cynicism from it. you find cynicism and bring forth beauty. truly masterful. i really love this.
Graffiti speaks volumes doesn't it? Says a lot about the heart.
Mine is if you'd like... here
Have a great weekend!
truth there - glad that we have a beacon of hope that shines everlasting even at the skate park
Moonie smiles my friend
No need to wait for this 55
as my friend Homer would say: toup!!! you weren't counting on her eyes, weren't you???? lie or not... it changed your life.
ps - how do you come up with this clever stuff???
There have been times when I've felt like that. But for the most part...I'm with You!
Great job Son...
I'm so proud of you!
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...G
Touche' my friend. Nicely done. It can make some interesting artwork. Happy Friday.
This 55 hit a little too close to home.
The inherent problem with staying ignorant enough to believe a lie.....sometimes reality forces its way to the surface and destroys the fantasy. Not good.
HERE IS MINE
PG
Thanks for following, lies and ignorance, we should face the facts. Out, out damn spot! What is done cannot be undone.....
Thanks again, Brian. You are a voice in the wilderness sometimes.
I love this Brian..
It then begs to question: is love blind or does it choose to be blind? Pain and pleasure have always been strange bedfellows, but bedfellows they've been and always will be.
Nicely done....
Life is no lie. But the way you live it can be...
-C
Aren't you tempted to draw a circle with a line through it around the words "life is a lie"? Ha ha!
Another great one!
Hence "ignorance is bliss"! Too often I shouldn't have found out...we don't always need to know everything. Have a great weekend with the ones you love!
Isn't it amazing what true love will do for you? It's why I write Romance.
I appreciate the structure that you set up Brian. I am an optimist too and cannot accept someone else's pessism. I concur that it was probably a teenager full of righteous angst (but I was there long ago myself)
So beautiful1
What a difference a day makes.

Ah! this 55 words story touched me so much.
Life is not a lie... but if it is, and that person can make you feel it real, then blessed be that one.
This post realy gripped me within. Sitting here with tears filling my eyes...whoa...must re-read to see what your words are really speaking to me about in my own personal life and the people I am surrounded by. Darn it, dude... :)
Ignorance is bliss? There was a time I believed the lies in order to survive and to fit my life. :) XX
Some poor emo kid is tagging your local park benches and you're turning their melancholy fatalism into art. Yay! Love your outlook, Brian. Great 55!
I think I'll opt to live in ignorance too.
Love this!!
life is a lie if we believe it is, innit? :) - nice 55!
Don't bother me with the facts. I know what I want to believe.
Hope the young'un feels better.
Nice 55, Brian. Ignorance is bliss. :-)
Graffiti can be heartbreakingly profound. Wonderful 55, Brian.
Love, sweet love....if it's wrong, I don't want to be right!!
Beautiful (as always).
Another one of your romantic poems, which I so enjoy to read.;)
I still like to remain an optimist believing life is beautiful.;)
Have a lovely Friday and weekend dear Brian,
xoxo
What lovely words here, Brian. Simple yet so profound. I have always wondered about the people who wrote graffiti. Was it an expression of their innermost feelings or was it just a way of writing something 'cool'?
I loved this 55.
The line: "just for an excuse
to do whatever . . ." is so very true. Just to do whatever, people invent their own philosophies and taglines. I wonder how long it will remain within them!
Have an insightful weekend, dear Brian. Long time since we heard tales of your boys. Hope they are well and not too burdened with homework and sundry.
Joy always,
Susan
Nice one. If life is a lie then what is truth?
I am, therefore life is not a lie
Life can suck though, be frustrating, ...but it will be your own reality so we have to make the best of it for us and the people around us
awwww
great one!
Mine's up too.
Life can seem like a lie when you are lonely. It's amazing the way life becomes real when you are together with someone you love. As always, well done. /Jo.
that is just so beautiful. Great 55!
Yeah, I can relate...
I love the irony in this.
How romantic!
Life is a lie... whoever wrote it must have been really down. Let's hope he or she found the door to better things. Another great 55, Brian.
Some lies are meant to protect us..... If life is a lie I'm happy with its author. :)
You're a computer? LOL! I can believe it because I have posted a bench today and on Monday the word is liar...
Awesome. Trying to catch up here... all good stuff, Brian. :-)
Great post, Brian, and how true that our whole outlook can change with just one meeting... I love these 55's when so much is said in such an economical way!
Brian awesome post. Thanks.
They do say that ignorance is bliss!
We find ourselves in a relationship that changes our lives...we bask in it and don't want to hear if it is toxic! Just want to relish it and embrace it for all it's worth.
Addicted to love...to obsessions!!
Well written Brian...enjoyed this one!
Hugs
SueAnn
They say ignorance is bliss....I opt for it myself.
There Lies The Truth!
sometimes ignorance is the most beautiful bliss.
cute poem brian.

I like this ignorant state as well. Suits me fine, as of now!
extraction
:) Amen
life can feel like a lie if look in the wrong directions ... and not only for the teenage skateboarders ...
I'm happy you have found the one that made it change it for you ... :-)
happy w-e Brian!!
I'm so sorry for the hopelessness I read in that graffiti, Brian.
Love isn't always the answer, but it sure helps.....
I've felt that way most of my life. Please let me stay ignorant enough to believe in the stars while keeping my feet on the ground.
aahhh - how life changes when we meet the one we love..beautiful brian
and i hope for the teens that sprayed the words that they'll find someone as well who makes life worth living for them
I loved this. Funny the ordinary things we see around us, that touch us deeply or bring new insight.
sweet! you are a lucky man!
Some truths are more beautiful than others...for some reason this reminds me of what I posted today...then again it'sprobably just a lie;)
Lucky you, that your life is rich and full of wonder! No lies there!
:) this made me smile Brian!
That sounds right to me.
:) really nice
That's the ONLY kind of lie I love. That was so good, Brian! ;)
I'm not gonna say 'ignorance is bliss' because everybody has already said it.
Besides, I'm fairly blissful myself and by no means am I at all ignorant.
A romantic 55 with a moral snuck inside... nice!
very well done. I like how I am living my lie (life)! Happy weekend!
Both yours and mine are about lies this week Brian. ;)
yeah.. i think yo need to lie sometimes to survive life.... i.e.
when I ask hubby if i look fat in that..... lol
This might be my favorite thing you have ever written.
maybe.
you are always so good.
Lie on dreams lie on
This is wonderful - I love it :-)
beautiful scene. Thanks for this.
amen, great 55 and nice perspective.
Hi! Brian...
"if it
all is a lie,
please let me
stay ignorant enough
to believe it."
Hmmm...The person don't either want to hear or know the truth?!?
Brian, nice use of 55 words too!
Interesting Thanks, for sharing!
DeeDee ;-D
Sounds like if loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right!
Ignorance is bliss...I heard! :/
i really like reading this
gave me something to think about :)
Really great 55. I love the Marlboro box - that was a genius touch of authenticity.
Maybe life is a lie for some and others have found the truth in it.
we are truly what we believe...even if it is all a lie...nice 55...but far from ignorant...bkm
When ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."
"If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?"
I saw that on the back of a bus ticket when I was 12 :)
Hey Brian :)
sometimes ignorance is so nice. Nice one :)
Life is a new adventure every day. Some adventures are better than others. Here's hoping your adventures have more joy than sorrow. Here's also hoping that whomever left the graffiti found a new reason to believe.
This is a great story. Great job Brian.
What a sweet sentiment. Also another reason to say we should believe everything we read!
I like the simple wisdom of ignorance IS bliss here :).
I love the line "he is erasing the distance" ...NICE! Wouldn't we all like to be able to do this at times?
Brian:
Maybe I am reading too much into this one, but it could be more then just a "love" that was found, but something much more profound.
Love this 55,
Joanny
I posted my late in the eve of Friday.
http://thedowsersdaughter.blogspot.com/
ha! again what how love can change so much so quickly! great 55 ...sometimes it ignorance is more than bliss!
ha! again what how love can change so much so quickly! great 55 ...sometimes it ignorance is more than bliss!
You always offer words which leave me with a smile on my face. :)
Ignorance is most definitely bliss, for what we don't know can't hurt us!
Wonderful 55 Brian! Cheers Kath :)
Sweet
yea, ignorance is bliss ;)
Lovely 55.. Wise words.. Thanks a lot for your constant support and thoughts Brain..
--Someone Is Special--
We have to get you published!
oh yes...ignorance can be bliss.
"I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then."
wonderful ending there! sometimes believing a lie is better than facing the grim truth.
