160 - i hear little green men

"may the force be with you,"
they'd say,
dropping packages
picking up cupcakes &
i like to think
it was less the theme
than what we needed
in the moment.

What can you say in 160 characters? Say it, then tell Monkey Man.

We had the boy's birthday party yesterday. We are in full on birthday season. Within ten days I have T's and both the boys. Perhaps I should start a collection now. Smiles.

Made lightsabers out of pool noodles and 3/4 inch pvc, with some metallic duct tape wrapped in. They were a hit. Up side my head, on my back, my legs...you get the picture. Will post a pic or two, once I get the pictures from my dad.

Have a marvelous sunday everyone!

Metallic duck tape? Is that because you are quackers? LOL ! Us Brits call it duct tape!

Oh dear Brian ... you have been found out and exposed by Jinksy: you are 'quackers', but it sounds like your boys benefit from that!
Happy Birthday to all!!!

We used to say "40 lashes with a wet spaghetti"; I guess in your family, you get 40 bludgeonings with the pool noodle

What a wonderful season then for your family with all the birthdays even if a little hectic. I can just imagine the sabers being a huge hit. :)

Your blog is such a delight, Brian. You touch the lives of so many people in such a positive way. Thank you! Sorry I've dropped out of the poetry loop...too many professional commitments to do much blogging or commenting of late, but I do love this blogging world, and it is a far, far better world with you in it.

I've just been to the libary, and they assure me that everyone knows it's "duct" tape, but everyone calls it "duck" tape.

I always say "libary." Everyone always corrects me. It makes me laff! ;-)

My kids are 18, 20 and 33. But I do remember the birthday parties and planning. Seems like Star Wars was a lot of years ago, before your kids" time. I remember it from my kids younger days. Maybe it's a timeless thing. Happy birthdays to all.

Hello Brian:)

With so many birthdays in the offing it looks like a season of joy and happiness.I am sure you and your family will have a fantastic time.

When children are young birthdays take a special meaning and thrill. In fact when my children were small the talk about celebration will start at least one month in advance.

My advance birthday wishes to all the members of your wonderful family.May you have great celebration, joy, fun and precious moments to remember and cherish.

Best wishes:)
Joseph

Ed Pilolla said...

it had little to do with the theme, and probably everything to do with the fun energy of the moment. my nephew has a hard plastic 'lide sabwa' and he isn't allowed to whack anyone with it. the pool noodles is a great idea:)

Goofball said...

totally irrelevant to your post, but I saw the pictures and thought "oh he lives in a neighbourhood with stone houses"

somehow I had expected wooden houses as I'm used to see in Canada

I'm also jealous for the nice weather you had....here fall is in full swing already. Brrrrr
