making art (with you)

i do masterpieces
in fingerpaints,
leaving my prints
where colors come
together...

but...

you like brushes,
so paint me,
stroke by stroke,
taking time with
fine details...

(do you think we should
put down a drop cloth
or just not fuss
about the mess?)

you bring the brushes,
i'll bring the fingerpaints,
let's find a canvas
& get all artistic.

This is a Theme Thursday post.

I'd like to see the finished product!

Clever, by why do I sense a hidden agenda behind this? Romantic? I can tell you that when I taught preschool all the kids preferred fingerpaints over brushes :)....

Wonderful words - beauty about to be created.

..just don't fuss about the mess...smiles

This is a case of the journey beating the hell out of the destination, hey Brian? Nothing quite like a session of finger-painting between two groan adults ...

Baino said...

Messy is good, forget the dropsheet!

william said...

wish I got YOUR art at school lol, excellent write mate :)

AmyLK said...

Nah! Don't worry about the drop cloth, just paint outside and hose everything off.

You're such a flirt.

Vodka Logic said...

Very good... not so sure it is painting you are talking about. ;)

chiccoreal said...

Share the love share the art! Two heads (or paintbrushes) are better than one. A lot of artists collaborate to make the incredible happen!

Luisa Doraz said...

You are tooooo cool 8) 8-)

Very sweet -- the line about the drop cloth reminds me of... um, I better not say.

Umm did you watch The Bachelor Pad Monday night -- that was a date for a guy and 3 women. They ended up painting one another.

What colors would you choose if you could only pick one?

Daniel said...

Nice. You said a lot without having to say a thing.

Scott said...

gosh, the images that come to mind... mental art, word art about art... nice!

Stranger said...

Hm. I thought I commented on this earlier but I am not finding my comment here. It was the first TT I read. Ah, well, it's worth commenting on again.

I vote for the messiest painting session ever!

Very, very nice.

Happy TT.

This was so sweet and artistically charming, Brian!
Love the playfulness in this one! f
...a smile inducing post my friend.
Thanks for that!

I agree with "drybottomgirl". I sense a back story here. If not, there should be one. You just need Braille for this paint-by-number scene. What I want to know is how do you do it? How do you manage to create such wonderful stuff day in and day out? Never a bad one!

Harnett-Hargrove said...

Well done invitation!
Always use drop cloths! Then you are making incredible printed fabric, too. -J

I say do not fuss about the mess.

Brian, Brian, Brian ... get a room already. :-P

Tony Single said...

Nice one!

You've just reminded me why I don't like to paint. I know I know... blasphemous thing for an artist to say, but I really do hate getting all messied up!

I love the poem though. It's utterly charming!

makes me want to see the result...great poem:)

the mess is part of it, isn't it? I'd like to skip that part because I'm controlling like that, but control isn't really what art is about, is it?

adeeyoyo said...

Hahaha - don't know which I find more hilarious, Brian, picturing your blog or most of the comments... whatever... great start to my day, thanks!

Bernie said...

I too enjoy the comments Brian, this sounds very romantic....Hugs

Ah-very intense. This I like, because there was no need to put spicy words down to create the intimate image. Lovely.

See thats what I am talking about! This is sooo sexy...To keep a relationship strong, doing different and creative things together makes a marriage/relationship fun...gotta keep eachother on their toes

Jill said...

Brian...one of my favorite things to do with my kids is paint...they are so FREE and EXUBERANT and IMAGINATIVE. I have found that THEY make ME feel that way too when I paint with them.

Nancy said...

Woo woo!

Colonialist said...

Very colourful! If we take the U out of it to be American, it would be singularly :) lacking in fun...

annell said...

How unique the print.

annell said...

The "let's get artistic" bothers a little. I don't think artists ever think what they do is artistic?

Austin said...

I sense some undertones here, hmmm. And why do I keep hearing . . . "You bring a line, I'll bring a pole honey . . ."
