Okay, wildflower I could go for. Clover, even. But dandelion? Hmmmm...
Hi! Brian,
Thanks, for sharing-I like when a warm summer breeze...blow the cotton like petals off a dandelion.
DeeDee ;-D
I like the weeds with the flowers, but not a fan of nutgrass.
But I get it ; -)
Yes, way too many of them around here too.
Most weeds are pretty when you look at them closely...!!
Dandelions are quite beautiful and amazingly resilent. Really liked this 160, Brian.
Roar of the dandelion, a great title!
rather a native to my heart. Weed just holds too many negative connotations. Very cute verse though :)
Funny as I was trying to rake creeping charlie out of my lawn just now. I am trying to prevent it from taking over, but am destined to fail I fear. sigh...
oh and dandelions aren't completely bad. They are edible and can be turned into wine! You can't really think poorly of something you can turn into wine.
I have always liked dandelions because they are yellow, and happy. Plus you can always count on them turning up where you least expect it....
I like dandelions! they just seem so pure :) Great 160!
I love the colorful weeds, wildflowers that grow along the roads...in the meadows.
PG
I'm a big fan of the weed ;D
Peace ~ Rene
i totally love how you play with words. great 160
nice

LOVE the title. And the imagery. And your continued celebration of your relationships. Nice.
Ever taste Dandelion Wine, delicious, gotta love that weed.......:-) Hugs
Only you could make a dandelion seem so romantic. Have a good Sunday!
I like it! A rose just doesn't fill you up like a dandelion does!
Haha I don't think she'll be too thrilled with that one? Weed? Completely different connotation to me but then . . that's me
I like this.
I was just about to make another foray into the "160" world, and decided to come here first to check your latest...wonderful! I think I'd like a weed in my yard too.
Well done.

Hi! Brian,
Let me rethink my comment after I discovered this info(rmation) on the "internet(s)"
When finished flowering, the Dandelion flower turns to seed. The whole head of the flower will close up and the green bracts underneath the flower will close around the seeds. The yellow petals will disappear and the seeds mature. Then this new seed head will open up. These big puffy white seed heads, when blown by the wind or by you, can start 200 or more new plants. Remember this the next time you make a wish and blow the seeds away! Omg!
and a link too!
Plant Watch The Dandalion
Take care!
DeeDee ;-D
When I was little I was told that picking dandelions would make you wet the bed. So I've had issues with them ever since! Still love your poem though !!
Me too. I like weeds.
Interesting, I pulled and pulled weeds from my beds today, not a dandelion to be found now. I liked your post.
this is perfect! Switch up the perspective, embrace the weeds!
Bwahaha! An insult doing a quick about-face. I have always been fascinated by dandelions, and lots of weeds have gorgeous flowers. I like the title too - shows strength.
I like it...love as a dandelion....spreads uncontrolably...cant be killed and even blooms into a bright flower....perfect;)
Lovely imagery. I'd rather have a weed than a rose any day of the week!
I like this analogy / a lot. Weeds have a lot more character!
hello,
just droppin here..
Very lovely poem.
I also love dandelion!
nensa
you know, I get what you are saying. Just wish the word "weed" did not have so many negative connotations. I do love the the phrase "filling my yard completely". A beautiful sentiment indeed!
I am going to do this.
You do it so well
this is so beautiful Brian! not everything that looks beautiful at first sight is truly beautiful inside ... love this one so much! :-)
Yes. yes, yes.... absolutely loved this, Brian.
Oh, you know I love this one, as I love comparing weed to people.;))
Great beauty in so few words - lucky is the one that is the object of this affection.;)
Enjoy your Sunday dear friend,
xoxo
Ecocritics say: "Weeds are right plants just growing in the wrong places."
It's strange how sometimes "certain" plants are privileged over the other.
I'm glad that you chose an unusual image to express love.
Hope the Sunday is swimming so far!
Joy always,
Susan
I love it!
It speaks to me of..love being in every single corner - not just in one special place and of increasing and of love, suited to daily use and it has something wild and exciting and getting a bit out of control. And it has power to resist - it's not over-sensitive but resilient - and...wow....!
So enjoy life with the wife of your youth!
I'm so smashed - and I think the 160's are the most difficult. So for sure Master Miller - you are my No. 1 hero in 55's and 160's!
Not sure if you read my 55 this week -but my 160 is up
Have a great Sunday!
Sweet. From one dandelion lover to another...
Ah yes, the humble, reviled dandelion! I love it and it's certainly not a weed to me! I wrote a poem using it as a symbol of hope last year. Nice to see someone else writing dandelion poems too! Bravo! :)
A rose is beautiful but thorny and high maintenance . . . a weed would be much more pleasant to live with.
Very nice imagery on this one. Loved it.
I have always liked dandelions, maybe this is why.
Kat
LOL>> I have to admit i was like WHAT???? A weed?? LOL.... I hope she is a pretty dandelion....lol great 160
I am pretty sure my hubby would say I am a weed too. And I would like it.
apparently you can say a great deal, and say it well :) that my talented friend is a key difference! :)
Nice!
My daughter's favorite flowers are dandelions.
'I like it that way.!' My kind of finish ;)
Dandelion's you can eat so they are useful AND isn't a weed just a flower out of place? Everyone always seems to go for the "pretty face" instead of looking deeper. There is a beauty in the simple things that multiply. Just ask a kid: would you rather have a dandelion or a rose? Dandelion would ALWAYS win!
You know how to say it...
Happy Sunday from Casablanca!

Oh, I love this!
Dandelions are the only "flowers" my kids have ever been allowed to pick out of our garden. They learned to identify them from a young age, and have eagerly plucked them for me often. They are "mommy's flowers" around here, and barely a summer's day goes by when I don't have one in a glass of water on my kitchen counter...
:)

another great 160. I think I would rather be a weed than a rose with thorns and untouchable lest I fall to pieces. Every kid knows that dandelions are just grown to be blown.
Long live weed love.
Nice job Brian! Have a great Sunday!
Dandelions are loved by rabbits so they are very important flowers!

I heard it once said that if a dandelion was difficult to grow, everyone would want her in his garden. Sounds like you want her anyway!
BTW, I ike dandelions! What other flower is so cute and yellow and then grants wishes for children?
I LOVE THIS PIECE!
Great concept. Great 160. Thanks for playing. YOU are the dandelion on the Sunday 160.
I'm glad she fills your life so completely. :)
Tsk. You're supposed to call her a "wild flower". ;)
If my love is a weed, I will never weed again.
My mom wrote a song about dandelions when I was a little girl. It became a hit in our small town and was sung in church often. I'm a fan of that bright yellow flower. Yes, it's a flower. ; )
And that song? It's called How He Loves. One of my very favorites! I've been singing it ever since I read your comment!
We call them fields of wishes. :o)
Only thing that pops into my mind is the old Rolling Stones song Dandelion. Thanks for another great post Brian. Blessings.
OUCH !!!! That was harsh! :)
But an absolute reflection of the mind at times :)
But the bright side to it is, weeds have a beautiful way of showing up, and never making you feel lonely ;-)
A fantastic 160!
Some weeds are just wild flowers waiting to be tamed and tended.
wildflowers capture their own beauty its just that they are not labelled, good post mate :)
What a rare display talent here! I've got some awards I'd love to share with u: http://ediomoudofia-awards.blogspot.com/2010/07/lovely-blog-award-plus-sunshine.html
Weeds are good stuff.
Holy cow I love this. I wish I could think of something more poetic to say than holy cow. Darn it : )
Roses can be prima donnas and fickle and hard to hold...dandelions are robust and strong and tenacious and giving. Sounds like you've got the right idea. :)
"May all your weeds be wildflowers."
I have seen some beautiful weeds!!! They can fill in some bare spots!!
I quite like it that way too.
Ha! Good one!
xo
That´s beautiful!
Love blossoms in the strangest places, doesn't it Brian.. why does this make me think of that saying "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" A lovely 160 my friend.
Ah! Wild flowers are more fragrant and exciting than tame stiff roses!
Getting to your blog is a problem each time. I guess your Waystation is a Metropolitan Station with too many trains passing by! :P
I love making a wish with the danelion seeds! of course that helps to spread their population.
Cool poem. Beauty is discovered truly through preference, not always through well established symbols.
Oh how sweet!! And beautifully said!
Hugs
SueAnn
PS Weeds are wild flowers...most proliferate and strong...constant and beautiful!!
perfect!
This is funny because I spent Saturday weeding the flowerbed in the front yard and I was cursing the weeds the entire time.
filling my yard completely.... such a lovely image in metaphor of love. Heartspell
Simple and wonderful!
I like the dandelion. Besides perfection to me isn't Yard of the Month.
I love this. A weed, or not...
a weed yet so lovingly described....I wouldn't share the same sentiment when thinking of dandelions
Brian ~ You make me wish I could write poetry. Love the weed.
