i watch you
across the room
watching me and
the things your eyes
do to me
make me wish
everyone would just
go home...
so i do
the only thing
i can think of,
throwing myself
on the floor
flopping like a fish
trying to get
to the water
while you escort
awe struck friends
to the door
making apologies...
entwined, we'll giggle
down a trail of
cast off clothes
and who knows-
letting your eyes
lead the way &
tomorrow, i'll
regale them with
stories of the miracle
that saved me...
if only we were
not stuck at
this party and me
in my fantasy
as...
i watch you
across the room
watching me and
the things your eyes
do to me
make me wish
everyone would just
go home...
no, really, come back soon...
drive safe, and have a good night everyone.

Alright, alright Brian. We can take a hint. We'll all go home now, no need to flop on the floor like a fish. Enjoy the miracle (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
You lucky devil you. Have lots and lots of fun after the party. Love the story.
God bless.
ahh the eyes ... they can tell so much, they always tell the secrets :-), no words need to be say ... :-) lovely poem Brian :-)
Funny, cute and so, so, romantic.
That was incredibly romanic and sweet.
Someone needs to tell you that flopping on the floor is not a turn-on ... well not for most women anyway ... :=)
A good read, Brian.
I think in more civilized societies people just get headaches...but if flopping on the floor works for you.
I've seen those eyes before. Made those eyes. And sometiems... well... you just gotta kick people out.
{wink}
Love when you get all spicy!
LOL! Sometimes you just gotta show people the front door! You romantic you!
What a way to get rid of people! Wasn't there other ways? (Smiles). Whatever, the piece enabled me to think of many things in a single reading.
Hope you followed the eyes . . .
Joy always,
Susan
Flopping on the floor like a fish... LOL
This was really funny and cute. Have a good day, Brian:)
The mind is a powerful thing. I have read the eyes of many and sent many messages with mine in my lifetime. Now I appreciate the beauty of the words you write.
PG
The eyes are the window the to soul and its desires. I can remember a time not too long ago when those eyes told me everything that I needed to know and filled me up with everything that I needed. I still remember ...
well that's one way to get everyone out haha
love it!
perfectly written. got the message. ☺
The eyes really do speak don't they? I'm glad that you and your wife are still so crazy about each other. Picturing you flopping around on the floor like a fish makes me smile. Reading this was a great day to start my day. Thanks! Happy Monday!
Brings me back to yesterdays...
Someone's been missing his wife! ;)
funny stuff...almost reads like a lyric
Hoooooo-Weeeee!
My glasses are all steamed up!
:)
The After Party is always the fun-est! Enjoy!

There has to be a time to go..........
Maybe next time it would be best to say the party will be held between ---- and ------ (State the times) Like children do on their party invitations. :-)

Ah, the eyes tell all.....you devil you! Nicely done.
Very nice. I bet you do do lots of giggling.
Why does a room full of guests make your partner sexier? It does though.
This is a great one, Brian!
MY FAVORITE!!!!! This is amazing.
I love this, Brian. Very romantic.
The party is not over.......it has just begun.....
Really cool. The eyes can do alot of things and you and T have a way of communicating that lots of couples wish they had. I am glad you posted this for us to share.
Love this -- it speaks to so many emotions -- "flopping like a fish" -- been there, been there.
I guess one's partner in a crowded room seems untouchable... hence the excitement, and the desire to be alone.
I love evenings like that - the anticipation makes everything just so much sweeter :)
That is great Brian...LOL purrrfect
I love company, especially when they know when to go home!
Nicely romantic and sweet. Great poem! The image of you flopping on the floor gave me the giggles...
I loved this, every ounce of my being loved this, as I recognize this. This is my favorite post of yours so far. Top of the list. I savored every word and relished reading this, just like I do with a favorite desert ...
Mmmm!
xo
;)
the conversational tone of the lines works very well with the subject. well done
ah the party in our mind, sometimes so much better than the actuall party;) luv it
"The Party's Over" ...or..."Let The Party Begin!"
WW (Wonderful Words) Brian. Again, and again. Ho-Hum..OHH!!!
Whatcha think of these young Peeps on here: Maha and Sam? I am simply AWED with their command of so many things, I guess all limped under the word intelligence, humility, and creativity. DAMMMM, that was THREE words!
And I pretty sure I forgot to mention one of those kids..forgive
that please.
Awwww what a cute poem. Your wife is a lucky woman! :-)
Your wife is blessed. So are you.
I'm still here in the bathroom, but I am too embarrassed to come out! Will you two please take it to another room?
I don't mean to interrupt, now that you've gotten everyone to (finally) go home...but I just got here!
And let me just say that here is a beautiful place to be.
OK. I'm leaving now. As you were...
Itz only eyes which can convey the secret desires of the heart so subtlety. Beautifully expressed.
Hi! Brian, plz check my blog there is something waiting for you :)
Dang! I've never been at a party where this happened. Once, at a do celebrating the hosting couple's forthcoming divorce, we DID have to step over the hostess on our way out - She had found herself happily unable to stay vertical but wanted to be sure to thank everyone for coming so she lay across the door sill.
funny
Flopping on the floor like a fish. I'll have to give that a try one day.
Loved it. Nothing like that look across a room two people share. Even if it gives you a bit of a fish out of water sensation ;).
Exchanging those glances with the one you love is always fun! :)
Very romantic!
this is funny, romantic and sexy
the next time I see a couple watching each other across the room I will go home
Got to find a way to show them the door: good one!
Yes the window to the soul can say so much......the flopping on the floor like a fish....says a lot as well but it isn't nearly as nice to hear.
Great read my friend.....:-) Hugs
Delightful Brian. Here comes that smile on my face..... :)
The catching gaze of a lover's eyes, that only you can see... nothing better than that. Loved this! Heartspell
haha...oh we have been there, too....this is SO funny! Fortunately, our boys usually do the floor-flopping. LOL!
awe how romantic mate, u are a softy lol :)
This was super!! So did you really flop on the floor?? JK
And the eyes can tell us so much!! So hope the party ended early!!
Hugs

Flop like a fish, you know you want to! Or put some bromide in your tea, that'll quiet you down a little.
This was a brilliant poetic narrative, Brian, I truly do marvel in each of your brilliant words :)
very romantic, nicely done...
Good one, Brian. :)
Oh, the old flopping fish move. It works every time!
Very romantic, Brian. In a silly sort of way. But then, that's often the best way, isn't it?
Love does strange things and I know this feeling, brother.
okay im laughing at the flopping fish.. ...
Powerful as always.
Excellent
Powerful as always.
Excellent
Some days, I wish *my* husband was a poet. This is one of those days...
:)

I'm gonna remember this! The next time - have to get out of something...anythin...I'm gonna flop like a fish.
ronda...i suggest practicing a bit first...really it should only be tried by trained professionals...but with the right amount of practice...you wont hurt yourself in the process...smiles.
The eyes can say volumes, and sometimes it's fun to just have those intimate moments across the room, where only you two are in on the secret....Hope you had a great Father's day!

kay I just *almost* just blew soda out of my nose with the thought of you flopping on the floor like a fish while your wife apologizes for you!
Wow. I need to fan myself now to get over the vapors....
the company would have to be BLIND not to see the love in your eyes for her and just quietly leave.....
ha
I say this every time... but, really great.
I know that look and it's magical so I'll leave now.
Cheers, jj
nice... those looks from across the room can say so much... great mix of humor and lust. lol
great blog. looking forward to reading more.
Ha ha ha ha! Have never thought of the fish-flop as a means of getting rid of people. This was great--thanks.
speaking with the eyes. playful and fun, and when your fantasy is hers too, well, you're truly blessed.
Do I have to leave so soon? I just got here! And I've been gone for so long...what timing!
BTW, it's ME!
A whole world speaks through the eyes. Love it!
That was a sneaky read! lol
But I like your message.
ps.How in the world did you manage to get over five hundred readers ??
Do you follow their blogs too ?
Awesome.
How does your wife put up with all this love and attention?? Isn't it exhausting? :) Wonderfully done, Brian.
I love that thing at parties where you both look at each other and know what the other is thinking.....
Increasingly for me though it's just "please can we go, I'm sooooo tired" !!!!!
okay, i'm outta here, you obviously need your privacy *giggle*
Amazing is the connection between two people in love. The eyes can say so, so much ... a language all their own. Well I must say Brian..you keep things interesting. I guess a man's gotta do what a mans gotta do & if fish flopping works... I say go for it!!!
Such allure and fun...wow..I'm leaving now lol
i watch you
across the room
watching me and
the things your eyes
do to me
make me wish
everyone would just
go home...
SUPERB!!
the words wrk like magic here!!
a very nice romantic comedy...the big guy and I learned a long time ago to establish codes words and signals..now he just falls asleep and everyone gets the message.
This was so romantic Brian :)
Aw the love and romance in the tone of this poem is so sweet. You are inspired by a wonderful woman it seems! And you go on to inspire so many others.
Okay Brian I never did like parties anyway so I will go home...have a great evening...bkm
Nice read
so romantic... and steamy!!! this is passion in a lovely poem. :D
Wow- I want someone to write this for me!!!
Well, not now...cause I would know they just copied it and didn't write it from the heart.
YOU are a great writer!
haha I like the last remark...Don't we all sometimes say that :p
Child-like, playful thoughts to catch an attention but what made this really special is the romantic intention behind such foolish one-man-show on the floor.
This poem leaves a smile on the face and a long sigh for the romanticism implied.
I wish you well.
~ Jeques
I love this!! We love to be loved!!
very nice....hilarious and sweet intertwined. Great poem.
Party pooper. :)
As having been a wallflower my whole life this poem really evoked memories in me. Great work.
Nice. I have wished people would go home as well. For many different reasons though.
:) cute.
That was so great. I really enjoyed the twist and the turns.
