dad, i think you should be aware of my future.
yeah, why is that?
well, i am going to have a big farm. we will have chickens and cows and sheep. mom and my wife will cook. cole will cut the grass and plant the fields. i will take the eggs and milk the cows. i don't know who will sheer the sheep yet. but you get to shovel the poop.
(i guess now i know where i rank in the pecking order or maybe my son thinks i have enough experience shoveling poop. on the bright side, at least i have a retirement plan now.)
i won't be at the farm all the time, i will also be the principle of a school. and when i am home i may be in the basement of the barn, because i will be a scientist as well.
(is it just me or is this starting to sound like a compound? i wonder if he is working on the kool-aid down there is the basement.)
anything is possible logan...
(by next week, we will either be back to being a superhero or off to something new. but chances are i will still probably be shoveling poop.)
keep dreaming...

Shoveling poop... I'm sure that's the job I would be assigned on the farm. Wait! I'm already doing that job! I spent all last week shoveling chicken poop and kitty litter at my friend's house.
There's no place like home!
He could be making kool-aid or, he might just be receiving all the Farmville vibes in the air right now. Maybe the will be coming out with the "Poop Shoveler" farm hand next. Or, then again, you could just be full of it:-)
That is priceless! He's going to be a busy guy, being principal, farmer, and scientist al at once! The least you can do for this genius is shovel poop, Dad! lol
Ohh..the things that come from the mouths of babes... I had a good laugh...Looks as though your set to be a future 'Pooper Scooper"...Lucky You!
Your sons are absolutely adorable!
thanks..they are nuts...and keep me young at heart...i tried bargaining my way out of poop scooping but...i guess someone has to do it..smiles.
ronda...watch it, i know where your blog is...lol.
GOTCHA!
Great imagination! Testament to great parenting. :)
shoveling poop doesn't sound so bad. See if he likes it when you forget to leave your boots out in the barn!
Being the parent of two boys is the best job in the world. Even at 19 and 22, mine keep me humble, teachable and remind me to laugh! Yours are a hoot!
♥namaste♥
That is so funny! Poop shoveler, that kid is funny! I just posted another new poem at 8:00 P.M.. I'm on a roll man. At least it is better than shoveling poop, LOL. JK
That was the cutest thing ever! LOL! They really are adorable boys. When they are 14 and 16, I want you to post another conversation and let's compare the two. ha.
Too cute!
love the pics you've posted. post more! :)

I want to live on a farm...
I love little boys' imaginations! That is a great story. Work hard and maybe you'll get promoted to sloppin' the pigs. :)
I love Logan!...and oh, those darling little faces!
Brian, you will be a fine shoveler of poop. I have complete faith in you. :-D
beautiful photo--sounds like ceo is in his future--Mr Jackson scoops the poop around here and swears Max is a horse not a dawg;-) I would start negotiating with him for a better spot on the team--there's a lot of poop on a farm...seriously, very cool how your son is taking care of everyone and including you all in his grownup world --lucky dad you are
I have a great deal of experience shoveling poop, so if you need a consultant as you enter your new career, you know where to find me....
LOL
The great thing is that you're included. Sounds like you have great kids who love their dad! Have fun shoveling. . . .
I got a nice chuckle out of your "retirement plan".
I just had dinner with my daughters (15 and 17)... they were arguing about what they each get when I die (shoes, jewelery, etc)... at least you get to be alive... even if it is shoveling poop...
That is one awesome son you have there! I am laughing so hard I have tears rolling1 Thank you Brian for sharing... you made my day. lol
Have a very safe and fun St. Patty's day! ~ Coreen
That boy has it all planned out! He is destined for great things, dad! Hang on to your hat!
Always look on the brighter side of life. It's not poop, it's brown gold, brown gold.
Ha, that's very cute, Brian. Also, I think he gave you the most important job on the farm. LOL.
Yea!! When are y'all moving to Montana?
Dreamers are fabulous people!
Crack me up!! That's really funny. The thought and planning that went into that is amazing. He was obviously aware that job needed to be done and you were the most qualified! :)
Great aspirations there... I am not sure I'd be so excited if I was the poop shoveler but you gotta be grateful that at least your included in the plans!!
Cute boys - Congrats Daddy :0)
Gotta love the imagination of little boys! So cute!
LOL... I just love the 'mom and my wife will cook'
Look on the bright side... at least you haven't been shipped off to an old folks home or rendered dead.
I absolutely love that age! Still so innocent. Makes you want to grab that moment and hold it forever. You will need to hold onto this feeling for those years of puberty that lie in wait for you!!
Shoveling poop...definitely keep your day job! :)
They are too cute!
And you are lucky that you won't be, right away at least, put in the nursing home. Shoveling poop is better.
My son is going to build a house on our property, our daughter plans on moving far away, at least for college. I hope my son doesn't change his mind, but he's only six.
Your boys are absolutely adorable.
And Logan? Be nice to him. He may be the one who takes care of you in your old age if he turns out to be half the entrepreneur he sounds like he'll be.
Aw! What sweet looking boys! I have sons so naturally I have a soft spot for the little guys.
I see he's a big planner, love that kids ambition.
Too funny!
You have two very handsome kids just like their pops! :D
haha Love it. Best part: "dad, I think you should be aware of my future." Maybe you should start lifting weights in anticipation of all that shovelling?
Brian--I have a granddaughter that looks about you boy's age (5) and she too, has that same great imagination. There is just nothing like it. You know what is great too? It is that you are writing this all down. Some day they will look back on what you have written and will just love it. Do you think we had this kind of imagination when we were young? I certainly remember THINKING I was creative...it's a matter of opinion if I really WAS! Great stuff, King of Poop!
Such handsome boys... our hero always will get the dirty job, right?
I am sure they love you!
hugs
shakira
You know there is something very cathartic about shoveling poop, I wouldn't knock it......
♥
S
Shoveling poop? I should put that on my resume.
your sons are soooo cute... ahhhh.... the joys of being young and thinking sooo wise... *wink*... :) for you: http://ishabellemanalo.wordpress.com/2010/03/17/blogger-buddy-award
Well, it sounds like he has his Daddy' imagination.
Oh man! i have a big grin on my face while reading this. hehe...
if i ever have such cute kids, i wudnt mind shoveling sheep poop :D hahahha
Dream on kids. Everyone knows us men can't multi-task. You will have to become either a farmer or a teacher. Or maybe you will become good writers (like your dad)
Award for you

Enjoy x
I live for these innocent dreams and conversations with my young children.
Its what life is all about.
Awesome!!!
oh sweet! an imagination like his dad...
glad you are included in his future though, no matter how ;)
HA! Hey, Betsy has a good idea there tho' ;)
But who's gonna do all the laundry?
good point subs...will give him an ask...
He does seem to have the pecking order correct. Best not to let him know he is a man and we all take the same place sooner or later.
Sounds like a remarkable plan, Brian. Logan is so witty, I love his organization in his thoughts (a little scary when it sarts to sound like the compound, yes)
How does Cole cope with HIS duties on the farm?
Hugs from a friend
E(leonora)
Well, that's your future taken care of. Thanks for this, Brian, I needed a good laugh. Poop scooping.....whaaaaaaaaaaaaa
LMAO...Brian this brought smiles...You have a lot of shi to look forward to I see lol...Kids, gotta love 'em...lol
Oh dear, shovelling poop!
That was wild! Aren't children a laugh a minute. Sounds like he is going to be extremely busy taking all that on.
Nuts in May
There's nothing wrong with shovelling poop. Especially on a farm!
CJ xx
LOL! That sounds like a wonderful plan! Gotta have one, ya know!
Wonderful! It's so cool to watch the dreams of our wee ones develop. My son wanted to be a video game designer for a long time. Now he wants to be a doctor. Go figure.
Great writing here as usual Brian!
I love the outlook that children have. LOL on shoveling poop!
1st: beautiful boys, although mischief is written ALL over them!!lol but then, i'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way. :-)
2nd: shoveling poop (i used to shovel horses poop) will keep you in shape and keep the glisten in your wife's eye. :-)
3rd: the kool-aid comment was hilarious!!!!
loved this Brian. thank you for the laugh -- much needed today!
lol jessie...so how will shoveling poop keep the glisten in my wife's eye...the smell when i walk in? smiles.
They are so cute. And anything is possible.
Precious! You're still around, and that's a good thing. My son used to say he was going to marry me; and dad, he had to find another wife.
Funny. Someone has to shovel the poop, you know. It is a very important job. If nobody shoveled the poop, what would this world be like? I love how he's going to be a principal and a scientist in his spare time! :) Cute pic, too.
I understand that you are very proud of your boys! :) Hugs/ Jo.
You know, that's probably what my kids would assign for my job too. At least he doesn't have you laid up in a nursing home!!
your boys' photos remind me of spy kid II movie,
they are smart, sharp, and brave in imaginations!
amazing post!
Happy Wednesday!
Next week,
you will taste the business
and fun I am having now.
Smiles!
Wow! very interesting. the cooking with the mom bit was awesome.
Oh... I always wanted a farm! And animals. And a barn with a basement!! AND a solid retirement plan. Looks like you got it all.
PS: For what it's worth, your son on the left reminds me of a young Vince Vaughn and your son on the right reminds me of a young Matt Damon. Handsome lads!
Shovelling poo... got to love those kids!
sounds like a great idea, two handsom lads, with great futures ahead, cant think of anything more nicer.. have a great day wonderful writer and friend :)
Oh the imaginations and wonderment of young boys! While your retirement is a bit stinky, I would guess that the idea of spending them with your family is the silver lining.
~Kairs
How cool to know you will always have a place in your sons life... even if it is as a pooperscooper.
Great plans and dreams for the future, you two are doing right by your children. It Shows!
CONGRATULATIONS BRIAN YOU HAVE BEEN PROMOTED :)
http://williamm51.blogspot.com/2010/03/blog-promotions-brian-miller.html
A place for dad. What a thoughtful son, lol.
Darling picture of your boys! At least the pooper scooper job won't be too stressful and you'll get to work outdoors. Have you bought your overalls and boots yet? Don't forget the straw hat.
an award for you :)

Father, husband, poet, and shoveler of high grade manure...pretty funny!
I was in sales for over 30 years..I really started to make good money at it when I stopped saying to customers;"Bulls*it!" and started saying "Oh, really?"...
That's what I call a Master Plan! I have always liked the smell of manure. Does that make me weird?
Can I come and work on your farm, Logan?
Kat
To Infinity & Beyond!
Somebody has to shovel the poop, dad. It is after all a very important job. The photo is great. Very handsome young gentlemen!!
from my way of looking at it, you'll have the most important job.
your sons are very handsome and apparently, ambitious.
Wordless Wednesday - Sláinte!
I love kids. Dad shovels the s**t. Thank you for your kind comment and thoughts. You are a good man Brian Miller.
AHAHAHAHA! You get to shovel the poop! Love it!! Your boys are ADORABLE - and wow, you're doing great, Dad, he's got some pretty cool aspirations! :)
The minds of kids are a wondrous place aren't they? :)
Who knew that parenting would be so crazy, fun, full of the unexpected.
Ya gotta love those kiddos and smile when you are shoveling
Haha well at least the kid has ambition! Most at that age just want to grow up to be cops and firemen. And let's face it, we can't all have the glamour jobs! Shovelling poop is a noble profession.
LAUGHING!!!
First...adorable and handsome young men you and T have there! Second, why is it that T has to cook and you have to shovel poop? Hmmmmmm, oh well...take heart...at least you are happily included in the future! AND, it is a family venture!
Well at least your son is sensible. My kids (a few years back)had plans such as: 1) selling shark teeth on the side of the road 2) breeding hamsters and selling them to PetSmart. At least a farm can feed a family. Great post. I enjoyed it!
Haha, that's awesome! Kids are the greatest.
I love how kids have multiple career goals.
Mom and the wife cook and you shovel poop--- Ha! I hope you are still blogging in about 20 years so you can read this back to him and let us know his reaction.
This is a hoot!
jj
Excellent - good thing he changes his mind all the time - you might get out of shoveling poop in the end!
Excellent - good thing he changes his mind all the time - you might get out of shoveling poop in the end!
I love his confidence! :-)
Maybe you can sell poop and make a killing! :)
The family farm sounds wonderful.
Wow...he's going to be a busy guy. Better keep an eye on him! And with such an unpredictable future economy it's good that you have a retirement plan. :)
My daughter has informed me that she wants to be a mom, a princess, a doctor and a "dentister".
very cute and sweet!
Wow...a man with a plan at such a young age!!
He sounds very advanced.
Or spooky.
Like he was warning you...
Shoveling poop, that's too funny. Reminds me of that McDonald's commercial where mom and dad fight over who is going to give the Happy Meal to son, and Mom gets the hug. In our house, I do everything and dad gets the "Thanks, Dad!" and the hugs.
How does your wife feel about being assigned the cooking roll? She might feel the same way as you do about the poop.
I love how kids think of the future in terms of doing it all and not limiting themselves.
And this is why I much rather hang out with kids than most adults. May your boys always have dreams and goals and may they always include you in them ~ even if you are the poop shoveler. So sweet.
Your boys? Cute boys! :)
