little arms wrap my legs
furiously pulling me to the floor
as the final buzzer rings
ball still clenched in my hand
so far from the goal
hanging on your bedroom door;
exhausted we giggle.
soppy wet head on my shoulder
tossing questions in the air,
floating back to my heart
seeking answers...
batman has no powers.
mom can't marry you.
eat bugs only for survival.
each touch, an impression
none felt greater than these
still quiet moments.

Oooh I think I'm your first comment! Like the way you wove in "felt" and "impression" plus what a great visual I had when I read this!
Awww....I remember when Taylor wanted to marry me....probably 15 years ago! I bet I've never told him that...he'd die now. ha. Sweet impressions, there, Brian.
I love how the layers of impressions are so easily remembered and felt as if they had just happened.
It's like a hologram for your soul.
Oh I needed this tonight as my kids were driving me nuts with the whining. Now I just want to hug them. Thanks and happy TT!
wow..
How sweet are those moments. . . they are truly priceless.
Oh Brian ..
You bring back so many wonderful memories of our boys as they were growing up! Treasure those times and keep writing your beautiful words about them!
with two tweens, I sometimes long for those days again....when they smelled of baby shampoo, latched on to me for dear life, and I was the smartest and bestest woman and person in the world. Sigh...
descriptive excellence. i love the creativity & imagery that comes to my mind... very amusing
very sweet--the love you have for your family is evident in everything you write--beautiful!
Happy TT-c
Lovely.
Nice! Brian, your kids will tresure this stuff some day all saved in words, and not just memory.
And the midget fetish yet again rears its ugly head...
Ha! Kidding. Loved it!
Such joy and fun in your house. I love to hear about it.
EACH TOUCH AN IMPRESSION
♥
This sounds like a scene at my house. Very strong picture. Just today my five year old wanted to know if he could marry his little sister.
Your boys will just adore these snippets of conversation to go with the memories they will have.
exquisite...every little boy wants to marry their mom...so sweet.
much love
Brian ~ This is really beautiful. I especially love "floating back to my heart". Just perfect!
oh how this brings back memories, wonderful wording as you once again took us down the garden path.
........:-) Hugs
Brian said,"batman has no powers.
mom can't marry you.
eat bugs only for survival..."
Out of the mouth of babes...
...Answered question(s) to a small child inquisitiveness.
...each touch, an impression
none felt greater than these
still quiet moments.
Brian as usual, very well written, very descriptive and
Thanks for sharing!
Happy TT
DeeDee ;-D
That was beautiful!
You're amazing. ;)
I have never met anybody that writes the way you do!!
Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I always leave feeling moved, or stirred in some way.
Batman has no powers?
I can't eat bugs?
Is there a reason to live?
This was done with great skill and talent Brian. The affection pours from every syllable. But start now to prepare for the teenager to come.
Beautiful as always, the magical moments spent with our children.
Great take on a theme,
xo
Zuzana
cute. addendum: eat only bugs covered in chocolate.
batman has no powers.
mom can't marry you.
eat bugs only for survival.
so touching...wonderful..spectacular
A picture in words, Brian!!
loved it.. i smiled while reading..
and yeah, Love Batman! :D
I remember those days with great fondness. Now the arms are bigger and the questions harder.
Good that you record them now, as teens, they look at me as though to say, "who made you my mother?"
Ha! I hear in 5 years they come around again.
Sometimes I wondered what have I missed.
Loved the questions!!! Such a tender moment. Beautiful!
Thanks
Hugs
SueAnn
damn I want children when I read this :p
That's beautiful. I can't wait until we have Alex home for memories like these!
Lovely...I hope you are saving this for the boys when they're older. Happy TT!
Agreeing with Deedee here. Dunno where kids get the impressions for some of the questions or things they come up with...then again...
very nice Brian, good imagery, the small poems mean a lot.. happy thursday :)
Yes Brian, What Mark said...
Very tender and joyful, Brian. Brings back many fine memories of when my two were little.
Great take, very nice!
As always, you paint pictures in my mind. Beautifully done.
Can I live in your house please?
Very nice! I was playing basketball with the neighbors son the other day and I was working up a sweat! My daughter just asked last night why you can't marry more than one person. I think she wants to marry me. :)
feelings can be loud some days. this is lovely!
I am re-experiencing this now, with my grandchildren.
There is nothing sweeter, is there???
I have had many times like this with my little one. Silly, inane, sometimes stupid, but absolutely priceless. I can still hear the echos of our laughter.
Such lovely moments - felt in the heart and remembered there too!
This was lovely, just lovey - as was your last poem too.
From the mouths of babes...and older. I wish I'd written down every hilarious thing my young ones said. Of course you think you will never forget.
Wow!!
Lovely moments ;)
Nice written ....
Oh how I miss the days when I was a superhero, my little girls were gonna marry their daddy and live with forever, and all boo-boo's could be fixed with a my magic kiss!
glad to see you are savoring every minute Brian!
That's beautiful, Brian. I hope you're putting all these gems in a book.
Oh, come on!
Bugs make for great eating, survival or no.
Ah...from now on I am reading your posts BEFORE applying eye makeup since I get so teary - real tears.
mom can't marry you
takes me right back to the days when my sons would tell me they would live with me forever and ever. I miss those days.
I expected nothing less than stellar with this theme and as always, I wasn't disappointed!
These are memories that will last a lifetime! :)
Sweet and lovely Happy TT
I don't have kids, but I could definitely feel the love that you have! Maybe I'll go out and get a dog now. :)
But...but... Bugs are so yummy after they've been in a pocket for a sticky afternoon in the sun.
Beautiful piece, Brian.
touching and wonderfully written
Impressions on the heart here! :)
Great take on the theme!
The Bach
my boys are grown but I remember...good memories...

I love the way you write about these moments with your family. They will be wonderful for you to read some day when your kids are older. (And for them to read as well.)
Aww another sweet account. I don't think my son has ever had the urge to marry me . .divorce me perhaps!
A father's love is a beautiful thing. Thank you for a very touching TT piece.
Beautiful!!!!

Then...they become teens. Enjoy it, Batman.
It's a different kind of joy when they're teenagers. Enjoy every minute and don't blink! ;)
Smiles!
66 persons are before me,
While I was enjoying a cup of tea,
Finally,
I come to see
what it can be,
Wow,
WE, Me, You, He,
This is a poem for everybody
...
#1 post of the week,
Way to go,
What a Talent Show!
Oh Brian, I really liked this post!
Just beautiful Brian; very touching x
I do like this one very much.
Focus on those small hugs -
they leave the most indelible impression .
Judith
These posts always make me miss my little kids. I know everyone always says this, but they really do grow up too fast!
This post makes me wish (for a moment) that I had kids of my own.
Great job Brian.
jj
That was truly sweet.
What did yu say about Batman!? Blasphemy, LOL Great piece Brian
Beautiful imagery, Brian
This brings back so many memories. Beautiful.
Nothing smells as good as a clean child getting ready for bed....
I love the way the poem frames the three italicized lines - and gives them such a clear voice - ominous yet tender... lovely.
I am following from Friday Follow. Sorry I am late or Early!!!!

Beautiful...
Eat bugs only for survival. :)
Love that!
I see you carrying them and holding them with such love in your heart.
I too hope you are printing these out and making a book for the boys when they grow up. Save it for them and give it to them when they become a Dad. There will be so much wisdom for them.
Okay maybe you should find a publisher and get this published for all future Dad's. Then you could also do one about "Love and Marriage", which would make an awesome wedding gift.
Just something you might think about.
Great job.
God bless.
Beautiful post Brian!:)
Brian i love this. Those little hands remind me of my daughter who just has this way of surrounding me and holding on. Kids rule :)
Came over from Vodka Logic's site to read your 55 words poem.
You impressed me, just so sweet moments!
Have a great time!
:)
Delightful!
and you said that you had nothing..... I think that you rocked it!
This is adorable! Reminds me of when my kids were little, now 18 and 21. Yikes!!
"tossing questions to the air". Oh how true. Now, what were your answers?
Ah, yes the pull on the heart strings. The questions and the just need one more hug.
Imprints on your heart. Making memories you will never forget.
