warm plush blankets
form battlefield foxholes;
tired eyes peer
across the expanse,
choosing to roll over.
oh what pyrrhic victory
no one wins
wars
without words.
What can you say in 160 characters. Go see Monkey Man.

A telling tale. Great loss. Little victory. Thanks for playing Brian.
So there was a great loss? Poor guys!
No, but it makes for less intense battles, though! :)
You say a lot with 160 characters Brian.
Some people can make such good use of a mere 160 words! I salute you.
Damn, with the title, the blankets, the rolling over … I kept looking for the fart joke. I guess the Jon Stewart vulgarian teenager in me never grew up either.
I've lived this victory in the past. No more.
that's rather clever, friend.
enjoy your wisdom.
smiles.
a pyrrhic victory indeed
what great use of words
sparse as the battlefield itself
brian, this is very good
Much is said in so little here. Well done.
You were on the money today!
I know, Yodood... I'm so shallow, I was totally sniffing around for the flatulence too.
Why am I disappointed? I hate when people roll over, but I do love me a good fart joke.
Fun, thought-provoking, and all wrapped up in just 160 characters. Awesome!
Yeh well I'd like to roll over among squishy plush foxholes. Monday morning for me *sob*
you know, i imagine flatulence would not help the situation much...lol.
Brian, even without photos, your words do a great job of painting pictures in my mind and reminding me of other days(I was thinking of forts made from blankets, no flatulance at all, honestly). I received a kreativ blogger award from Jeanne Klaver and I would like to pass it on to you. If you choose to accept it, details are on my blog.

I only care for warm plush blankets right now
You are absolutely one of the most gifted writers around! I left something for you on my blog whenever you get the opportunity to visit... on Sunday's post. Have a great day!
Brian, I've given you an award. Pop over to mine to pick it up!
Hi-
that was excellent in 160 characters. Wow :-)
Hey Brian - seems like you and I definitely frequent many of the the same blogs. I have been wanting to come by and introduce myself for a while now - I hesitated because you have so many followers and comments already. Today seemed possible - so, "HI".
Love Gail
peace......
Great 160! Happy Sunday.

How do you do that? You have a gift writing something so short and meaningful at the same time.
Everything you write is done to perfection.
I've been guilty of this...and it certainly doesn't feel like a victory, does it!
I know I couldn't do this in 160 characters....you never cease to amaze me......:-) hugs
The silence here is deadly, Brian Miller.
Too many words you win and still lose, to few you think you win and still lose. The balance is where the tension lies. Great post.
BTW Thanks for commenting about your writing space. I am enjoying hearing the responses very much!
IMHO - "no one wins wars without words"
AND
no one wins wars with words
PG
Am I reading this correctly? A couple are at odds, and although in bed together, there is a distance separating them, like on a battlefield. One rolls away, the gesture speaking louder than words. This one has won some kind of victory, like Pyrrhus, "One more such victory and we'll be destroyed!" What victory was won here, and what did it cost?
Well done!
Oh, pride!
I was waiting for the fart punch line, too. Lived with boys too long. :)
aww bummer. Hope that wasn't a true one this time.
we've all had these kind of wars unfortunately.
sometimes i wonder.. do we win anything? with or without words?
I love how you use your words..In the begining I always think you are talking about one thing and it turns out you are not!
Ha! You got me again!
Beautiful post!
Love the choice of words.
...pyrrhic victory...
So poetic and so strong.
:)

Every time I come here I cross my fingers that I can be so clever :0)
Beautiful!!! No victory...just loss. Sad but true!
Hugs

I must say you have guts to use words in a better way to express yourself.. you always succeed in it man!!
Great job Brian!
Take care
Ciao my poet friend!
Wonderfully clever and concise. I love the pyrric victory analogy
Ciao

Interesting, I do love the silence ;)
That poem is so good, both in concept and execution - as is much of your blog. I shall return for more.
will catch up with everyone in a bit...offline much of the weekend...
Nicely done Brian!
Plush blankets?
Aristocrat.
Interesting...very nice reads here,
From Lorraine's blog Brian...i guess i was here sometime back...
"no one wins
wars
without words."
True...But has anyone won a war with words -- Mahatma Gandhi did, but left crying for the division of India...War only brings loss,

Oh i forgot, Brian...now I have you on my Reader...so will be more regular :)

Don't the big guys know things like this? Even so...?
That was my marriage. A silent war fought. Neither one of us won. In fact, we both lost. It was tiring.
Now, this was a great first time blog visit. That's amazing. Very well said. Can't believe all in 160 characters. OK, I guess almost everyone's said that here...:)
Anyways, have a great day!
rxbambi - not this time around. dont get me wring, i think we have all been there. thinking it will just go away if we dont mess withit or invoke its wrath by actually mentioning...just find avoiding it makes it stink all the more.
I was waiting for fart comment, but your 160 words were used wisely!
CJ xx
thanks Brian, I'd love to hear more of your story and the journey
Clever and concise, your words here have won a victory that is far from Pyrrhic.
lol, reminds me of my husband. So I have a good visual on this one. LOL
Love this one.
That 160 makes me want to go get my new down comforter and take a lonnnng nap. :-D
Namaste
very nice brian, a good tale, well written..
Fuel for thought, that. Nicely done!
very nice brian, looks like a fun game. thanks for stopping by shaking the tree.. now what the hell would i say..
Good job, Brian.
pyrrhic..I had to Wiki that. Thanks, I learned something today!
Pillow forts are the best. Have very great memories of times like that.
Nicely done.
You can say more in 160 than most people can in ten times as much.
Clever use of those characters. Amazing!
A great 160!
Lovely work. :)
The balance is where the tension lies. Great post.
