Theme Thursday: Friend

the sun drowned today
in a shallow puddle;
racing invisible
make believe motorcycles
around the basement,
we fell exhausted
onto the couch,
pushing its texture
into our rosey cheeks,
at peace;
denying our Nature,
the power of her tears.

my every day friend.

I'm thinking the puddle didn't survive the encounter either. Beautiful turn of the phrase, there, and a very very beautiful photo.

I'm with Beth. But I think it's because I appreciate how quiet they are when they're asleep.

It's my son's birthday today. Twenty-two years.

Boys are so wonderful.... when they're sleeping!!!

And why am I the only person who loves that you "fell exhausted onto the couch, pushing its texture into our rosy cheeks,"

But which cheek?

Ah, to be a little boy.

Those boys are so lucky to have you! Wow, I wish my dad had played with me. He was curing childhood leukemia instead, but it's taken me a long time to appreciate that. Today, I do appreciate the the character -- in every sense of the word -- that he was in my life and just wish I hadn't been such a crabby appleton about our relationship!

It looks like his best friend is right beside him.
The concept of your children being your friends at such an early age is very appealing.;)

One thing that bothered me when my son went to school is that I lost my buddy, the one who went shopping with me and gave me directions when I got lost (he has a keen sense of direction). Kids can make the best friends. Happy TT!
