55 - afghan skies

one
by one
they slid into
his plush red lap
all trimmed in white
begging and pleading
that they had been nice
sent of with hope an a ho-ho-ho
until she asksfor peace on earth so
daddy can come home, leaving hot
tears trickling into
his beard, as he
thinks of
Afghan
Christmas
skies.

Tell a story in 55 words. Give it a try or just read more, go see g-man. It just happens to be his birthday today too.

Hug your family an extra time this holiday, for those that can't, so that you can.

How utterly sweet... and so true.. World's Peace would be the ultimate gift to all.

Be nice if people learned to look INWARD instead of OUTWARD and realize we hurt only ourselves with War; etc.

We'll all Children of this World.

Loved the tree.

But sadly it does not seem to be in our nature to live in peace. It is amazing to see any spieces living in total peace and harmony. It would be so wonderful to see this someday, but their are forces not in our power that never want "total peace" in the world. Unfortunately, I think that "governments" are the main culprit. For if mankind lived in total peace and harmony then we would no longer have a need for the majority of our government entities. And the next largest culprit, are the different types of religious fanatics. I think this group needs no explanation.

What drives their need for control is just one thing "Greed". And I am not talking about greed for money, I am talking about greed for control, which then usually leads to control of money.

Hopefully someday soon the "meek" shall inherit the world. Only then will there be Peace and love among all the people of the world.

Okay, I need to go back and just focus on the tree.....and peace on earth, goodwill to man.

What a beautiful tree!!!! My heart goes out to all the children of the world who's parents are not with them during any holiday time.

God bless.

Mrsupole said...

Whoops, meant "there" are forces. Sorry.

Is it just me, or does the silhouette of your poem look almost like Santa's Christmas capped head?

I bowed my head and sent up a quick little prayer for all our service men and women abroad and at home. They sacrifice so much.

Peace on Earth. What a concept.
