Rock Ewe

Glitz. Glamour. My life as a rock star was very short lived and really never involved sheep, they'll come into the story later. What better way to relieve teen angst than to write heavy metal songs, get together a bunch of guys with little to no music talent and wail away? Legends in our own minds.

Actually, not all of us were in the no-talent pool. My cousin, DF, who frequents the Waystation still plays in a band called the BirdFangers. We had such high hopes for our band, especially with the endorsement of Mrs. Rose, the local mystic, who read our palms, proclaiming us Rock Stars. She also told me I would come into a lot of money...I think she may have been referring to the refund she owes me.

Just as I was about to send Bruno down to convince her to cough up the dough, Poetikat bestowed the "Ewe Rock" award on me and Rose's haunting words echoed from the past.

"What does it say? What is my future?"

Her gravelly voice replied, "You rock." (or I guess it really was "Ewe Rock.")

So that's where the sheep come into the story, in case your still wondering. Anyhow, this is high honor coming from one such as Poetikat. If you have not read her post this last Thursday, you are missing out.

Not one to let the moss grow on the rock (poor pun intended) and being of generous mind and spirit, I will now bequeath the award upon some deserving fellow storytellers...

What better way to create community than with good stories and great food? Weaving the two together, Lola has created a place I look forward to going each day.

Val's post from earlier this week, Holiday Romances Don't Work, is an amazing piece. I am new to reading her blog, but that one hooked me.

Great storyteller with intriguing twists. Might want to check out his multi-part story For Baby (For Bobbie) if you like a good yarn.

If you did not get mentioned this time around, don't worry I still love you. Go visit these friends and tell em Brian sent you. Catch you next time. (Cue pyrotechnics for exit)

oh the life of a rockstar... i enjoy my brief glimpses into the lifestyle every time i meet and/or hangout with bands i love... when i luck out and find myself in such situations. and i get to pretend each summer @ camp, with my fake band & our increasingly elaborate performances & crazy kids starting mosh-pits & crowd surfing as we "perform".... sigh, if only it lasted more than 5 minutes

Congratulations, Brian. Ewe DO deserve this and I will check out your recipients very soon.
That's the hard part, isn't it - selecting to whom they should go when you really want to acknowledge everyone and hate to leave someone out. I felt as if I couldn't wait for my multi-awards post to disappear into the bowels of my blog because I hate to look like I think I'm really something. I'm embarrassed to put them out there, if I'm honest.

Now I understand that Halloween costume where you were supposedly dressed up as the Joker. It wasn't the Joker you were trying to imitate, it was the spaceman from Kiss. Rock on.

Thanks for the award! So I guess this means that [Silver Fox drops the first "E" from the phrase "Ewe Rock"] "we rock?"

In my younger days, I was the frontman for a handful of rock bands. Lotsa fun!

I pop in for a quiet read and look what happens, I get an award. Thanks Brian, compared to other bloggers I'm not sure I deserve it but appreciate the fact that you found something entertaining about my blogs.

@silver - we do ROCK

@valerie - well deserved, both of you.

It's me, back with another comment for your amusement or otherwise.....
Now proudly displayed in the sidebar is a new trophy, the Ewe Rock Award. By sidebar I don’t mean my public drinking area although maybe a tot or two wouldn’t go amiss as I ponder on the meaning of the award as it applies to me. Does it suggest that I’m hard as a rock or as woolly headed as a sheep? Does it indicate an aptitude for jumping friskily from blog to blog? Or is it simply because I’m a cool gal who likes to dance and have fun. Beneath the frivolity I sense that somehow I’ve earned the title through my imaginative powers when telling a tale but, whichever is applicable, I’m now rocking and rolling with the best of ‘em. If I go off the rails a few times I’ll blame Brian Miller for giving me the award in the first place. He is obviously a most intuitive guy so I wonder what he would think about my latest idea of publishing a book on line. Thanks Brian.
