Newspaper

Stock Market collapse. Recession. Madoff. Stimulus.

Reading the newspaper the other day, maybe for some encouragement, right? Everything going on is so much fun. Then I stumbled upon this...

Congress Huddles on College Football...seems that since schools accept state and federal dollars, the federal government is getting involved in college football playoffs. Before you get on the Democrat big government bandwagon, it is co-sponsored by a Republican. Does not list who the sponsor of the bill is, but it would require that they drop the term "National Champion" or face penalties. Another bill would withhold federal funds from colleges that do not participate in a playoff system.

Is it just me or should the flag be thrown and 10 yards assessed for walking around the field aimlessly? Where are our priorities?

I think that the 'governments' only priority is control. It doesn't matter what they control, just as long as they control. I wonder if this is just a power trip that they are all on.

I heard that people are having "Tea Parties". Should there also be "Flag Parties". Just a thought.

God bless.

I got a sense during the congressional hearings over steroids in baseball
(I'm not here to talk about the past) that it was all happening so that members of congress could meet some of their sports heroes. This whole unseemly episode was clearly a dog and pony show with obviously dubious purposes.

we seem to be losing more of our "rights" every day. It's coming to a head. Our state( along with a few others ), penalizes you for not buying into a health-care programme. The law was passed with-out benefit of the people's vote. Do our voices mean nothing?

@subtorp77 or have our voices been quiet too long?

@mrsu flag parties...lol

@daniel maybe i should write my congressman and see if he can get me an autograph? Maybe that will be part of my stimulus package?

I love it when I hear people complaining about the Democrats and their plan for big government. The alternative is the Republican and "small" government where a select few have all of the control. The middle ground is difficult to find.

Our priorities lie in Money. They always have. Greed. Comfort. Survival. If we really cared about one another we'd be investing in one another, not stock options for our private futures. But then, who really cares about someone else except in thought and the abstract deed?

Big Government, Small Government, they're both the same. Excuses to sell ourselves on why we refuse to change. Because, while we know how to, it'd be uncomfortable and risky to attempt.

I think this is the why companies need to think twice before taking Federal money. Sure it's wonderful to get that huge chunk of change, but it comes with a huge price...your freedom. Once you take it, the federal government now has a say in what you do. Just like with AIG and their CEO's getting bonus'. Had they never taken federal money then they could pay them whatever they want. But since they took federal money, they are about to get reigned in. The moral is...make decisions what help make you self reliant, not one's that might have the biggest payoff. Then help those around you do the same. (But that's just my opinion.)
