Dinner tonight was pretty simple at the Mission. Hot dogs and Soup on the fine china (disposable plates). Actually it was a sentimental reminder of a fallen friend that passed away last week. It was his favorite meal.Sitting around the table, we began to talk of life, family and a little football. One of the guys was sharing about his mom, who just turned 90, and the home where she stays. He talks of being evicted because his diability check got cut. He adds, "I can not always be with with family, but while I am here, these guys are my family. What can I say, I am blessed."
They ask about my family and I tell them about the house we are trying to sell, the three months I have been away and about our snow ball fights this weekend. It is hard to complain, in light of their stories. Their reassurance warms me. Our lives may be different, but our journeys are shared.
The moment passed and we were on to football and the Dallas jokes were fierce. What can I say, I am blessed.

All too often we grumble through life and do not appreciate our blessings until after so much time has passed. The fact that you are able to recognize this, here and now, is also something to be thankful for. Nice entry today.
Good post Brian.
It is in serving others that God gives us many blessings. Our job is to slow down and see the blessings that He sends our ways. I am blessed to have a son that is finding God's blessings through serving those that need a helping hand.
Life is definitely a journey. I heard a story once about 4 men climbing a mountain from 4 different sides, they all have a goal to get to the top however their perspective of the journey's will be different.
Brian, I feel my life is so blessed too and so thankful every single day for all I have!
Thanks for sharing this touching post!
May you always be blessed!
