Christmas Shopping: Day of the Undead Saltarines

Today was wall to wall Christmas shopping! Tara is up for the weekend, so I took the day off and we rolled to the outlets in Williamsburg. We almost completed our list as well, only one person left to shop for.
During our explorations we stumbled upon Williamsburg Pottery Factory. It was an experience, unique as the buildings that encompass the factory. One building was an old hangar, others square and several round. Stairs may lead to doors or catwalks connecting the mish mosh of buildings. Its nothing to see discarded shopping carts, spending their last days rusting under an unused conveyor belt. Weeds grow, above the ankles, in doorways of forgotten shops. Needless to say, we thought we might disappear only to be found stuffed in some cardboard box labeled "Parts." Like the hapless victim from a horror movie, we continued walking around... cue the screeching music.

One building toward the back had a doorway about halfway up the side, the ramp or stairs long deteriorated. Boards barred entrance to the main door and the words, "SALTARINES INSIDE" were scrawled in spray paint across them. Nervously, we joked about what a saltarine may be, and decided we did not want to know. It was time to blow this popsicle stand!

As we were escaping the parking lot, two buses disgorged masses of senior citizens. I hope they counted off when, or if, everyone came back.

The old people coming off the bus were the Saltarines. That is their gang name and they were coming for you. Good thing you got out of there when you did.

Haha. Tara and I laughed pretty hard at that one Rob. I googled "saltarine" and it seems to be the plural of jumping or leaping. Which adds to the mystery.

You young folks make me laugh. Have you no worldly experience? Jeesh! A saltarine is a cross between a saltine (cracker) and a marine. I don't know what could be more obvious. Any other mysteries plaguing your mind?
