Just because it is, does not mean it should be.My wife and I ventured to the local Cineplex this weekend to take in the movie Australia, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Australia is a good movie, but is stylistically and thematically challenged. As far as style, the first part of the movie feels like A Series of Unfortunate Events (in particular the kangaroo scene) while later feels like a modern historical romance. There are multiple themes to chase if you go to movies looking for that sort of thing. Worth seeing, just not worth spending $10 for the ticket.
Just because it is, does not mean it should be.
One of the themes, in the movie is the treatment of the "cremey's". Children born of mixed blood, who if caught are exiled to mission island. One character even eludes to breeding "it" out of them. The quote, in italics, is from Drover (Hugh Jackman), when his black "brother" is not allowed entrance into a bar. This may seem very archaic as the fires of segregation and racism are not as visible as they once were. Out of sight, out of mind.
Just because it is, does not mean it should be.
What issues of justice or mercy do we, as a society, still struggle with? Which ones get your blood boiling? What are you doing about them?

Good subject for a post - you've hit the mark again. I struggle a lot with the issue/separation of government sponsored unemployment programs. While they truly help many folks who are subject to the whims of the economy or bad luck, I've heard too many stories of rampant abuse of folks who relish living off the "free" money and will play whatever games they can to keep it rolling in. This gets my blood boiling as a social issue
that involves both justice and mercy (how's that for relevance?).
i enjoyed that aspect of the movie... that brought some real emotional-value to the storyline. our society is so divided in numerous ways.. be it race, religion, wealth, appearance, etc etc..... i try & remind myself daily that we're all created for the same purpose, and none of us are better than any other person... it's a constant habit for me to connect & treat everybody i come in contact with the same love & respect I would want from a friend/acquaintance/co-worker
agree,
you write is like a poem,
very enjoyable piece!
